Major Slowdown & Black Holes Issue

Besides the sometimes mentioned black hole issue (game freezes for 1-6 sec when cursor hovers or moves over a black hole), I am now experiencing a major, and I mean like 20-30x, slowdown of game processing AI players turns' since 3.0... Any clue what might have caused this? Its testing my patience, and seems to only start up 4-5 turns into each and EVERY game, lasting to the end.

No idea for you major slowdown, but on the black hole issue adjust the slider for black hole graphics in the options menu down to zero and you wont see it again.

I have never seen the black hole problem, but in my latest 3.03 game I do see a noticeable slowdown during AI turns. For me it's not a problem, but it is noticeably slower than previous versions.

Funny thing is when I did that (lowered graphics down to zero), is when the black hole issue really became a problem. I recently restored it to full graphic strength (low, lol) and it eased a bit. I was told by Patrick many ages ago it has to do with my graphics card and layering, but I haven't heard of anything of it since then

Funny thing for me, I only experience the lag when I click on a black hole, especially if I am moving a ship. If I am moving a ship, the game will lag for about 3 seconds before it will course correct to the next nearest hex that can be occupied. Pre 3.0, there was no lag when doing this.

Have you tried reinstalling your game? Any hardware issues? Do you still get the issue if you reduced the number of players?

I get major speed boost when I decrease the number of players to 10 or less, and I mean all AI turns combined takes like 2-3 seconds when I move the map off screen to skip moving animations.
