New here need help

Galatic Civilizations 3 Crusade

I only just started playing this game as a result of the steam sale. I've started with the Crusade game. There are a number of things I'm struggling with and some help would be appreciated.

I have unchecked fullscreen in the options but the game still works as full screen not as windowed. (It makes writing this quite difficult)

I have played the tutorial, read the GC3 manual and explored the Wiki but I have some questions.

How can I build an Ascension Gate (I've researched the appropriate technology)

What does it mean if a technology is described as capstone?

I can't train any more administrators (tool bar at top of screen shows 0) because 'there are too many idle administrators and I need to asign some to planets'. Although I have some workers and others that I could transfer there are no administrators.

I'm enjoying this game but it feels like a late beta version rather than a mature product.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

The only.question i can answer is you create more administrators through citizens. Some techs can give you more. As far as promotion it requires promethium which is easy you will notice that it requires another spice which is found on planets which requires you to improve. You can trade for it. Two things you have to remember here. When you trade the frendlier the better, also when they have more of it the better. Dont trade for more than a fourth of their stock pile.

To get into other programs easy use Alt+Tab to jump around open programs or use the Win key to bring up your OS bar.

On Admins have you tried to promote them to managers.

What is your screen resolution?

Capstone techs provide a short term bonus to your civ.  However, you can research them repeatedly (basically, if you run out of stuff to research, you can use these :) )

Administrators -- are you saying that when you go to the transfer tab, there are no administrators to assign to a planet?

Thanks for this, however neither of the spices required seem to be available in my tiny galaxy. Not on any of the planets I control or in the trade options of the only other cizilization left

Resolution is 2560x1440 (native)

Thanks for the capstone - odd that one gives a bonus to research?

If you just uncheck the full-screen option it will still draw the game window at  2560x1440.  Use the drop down menu to choose how small you want the window to be.

Hey guys,

Apologies for hijacking this thread, but I haven't been to these forums in many years. I just got GalCiv3 and Crusade and the latest patch (2.3) and cannot even get the game to start. I came back to these forums, but cannot seem to find where to create "new thread" to describe my problem in detail. Was "create new topic" disabled or the button / how-to moved elsewhere? Please let me know so I can create the thread and not have to hijack threads.

Should be a Create Post button at the top right. My account still worked after a 7 year hiatus, so you're probably still good too.

Which section of the page is that button supposed to be located in?

When I go to the forum page, there's the big GalCiv3 graphic at the top. Then under that, "Welcome Veristek" (my name) and "sign out | options" and stuff like "Account | Subscriptions | My Posts | Private Messages" etc. Under that I see 3 links, "Home", "GalCiv 3", and "GalCiv3 Support". Under that is the Pinned Posts section, and under that is Recently Active Posts.

I'm not seeing "Create Post" anywhere in these areas. I only see it in this thread, which only adds posts to this thread, rather than create a new thread. Are my profile settings screwed up or something?

Apologies for sounding rather newbish here. Haven't had this issue in other forums I've seen and used.

If your logged in right above tweet, and facebook whenever you go into a post  at the top of the post. You could use help on the home steam forum contact support.

You have to accumulate sufficient ascension points by building starbases adjacent to lots of ascension relics. When you have enough points the gate builds itself I believe

On that page, on the far right of the Welcome message you should see the search option, right below that is a tiny black button to create new post

Ok I've got the screen sorted. Also I am studing 3 Ascension crystals gaining 27 points per turn with a current total of 1842 points. Does anyone know how many points I need or if there is an algorithm being used to calculate the points needed depending on the number of crystals available and the size of the galaxy?

Should all the exotic trade items be available in all galaxies created e.g. Epimetheus Pollen - Do these items only appear on habitable worlds or do some appear on Class 0 worlds (of which I seem to have many) in which case how do I access them?

Thanks for the help so far.

I see that you posted your problem on the steam forums.  I've followed up with you there.

If I may reclaim my thread. I'm still struggling with the below - If some of the exotic items are not available in some created galaxies it does limit some of the gameplay which is very unfortunate.

Also if I am at war how do I try to end it? If I go to deplomacy the speak to option is unavailable. I either have to wait until the AI 'decides' to offer peace or continue at war until one or other is wiped out.

Help very much appreciated.

Smaller galaxies can sometimes be missing some of the exotic resources. Depending on the resource, there might be a Shipyard 'mission' project that you can build to get small quantities of it.

The option to speak to the civ you're at war with will eventually be reenabled and you can negotiate a peace treaty.

There are some mission ships that work class zero planets. They require resources. After you explored the whole galaxy if the resources aren't found with anyone then you could report the bug about not all resources aren't turned up in a small galaxy.  Yes requiring resources slow things down requiring a challenge. If you tried all the mission ships, but have some ideas for other ones suggest them. You could always trade for resources.

Thanks for all the help but at the moment I'm inclined to regard this game as having great promise but with too many bugs to be enjoyable. Of course it could be user error????

I think the main issues I have is that it is not clear how to (or possible to?) build an ascension gate. This nullifies two forms of victory

Exotic items are just not available in some galaxies which makes some improvements and some missions from shipyards impossible. For example I was planning to expand the cultural influence of some starbases but that requires Aurorus Arboretum which is not available also Pilgrims cannot be obtained as a shipyard mission since there are no Artocarpus Viriles.

Apart from this forum how do I report a bug?

It took me awhile to figure out the ascension gate, but it is possible.   There's several late-game techs you need to get--not just Beyond Mortality.

Steam has a help section on its menu contact support.

if you check out nexus, there is a mod that adds missions for all resources. while this doesn't fix the vanilla game, or help anyone playing multiplayer it can help people playing medium or smaller maps against ai.

sometimes ideology choices that spawn a planet can create ones with resources but that is very rng.

if black holes are set to low, you will have issues with anti matter, and if nebulae are low, ellirum only spawns in it.

some resources you can make do without, but the pollen is almost required.

i don't play with ascension on so can't help there (never cared for it in gal civ II so doubt i would here)

How can I build an Ascension Gate (I've researched the appropriate technology)

Aquire Ascension Points, frist to reach x builds the gate and wins. ( x = Dependant on Map Size (2000 for tiny 10000 for Insane))

What does it mean if a technology is described as capstone?

Capstone techs = Repeateable Techs and are usualy right at the end of the tech branch. Used to speed up what most players concider to be "The Mop up Phase".

I can't train any more administrators (tool bar at top of screen shows 0) because 'there are too many idle administrators and I need to asign some to planets'. Although I have some workers and others that I could transfer there are no administrators.

You need to promote some, to retire them, at which point you will be able to hire new ones.

to see what you still need for an Ascension Gate, look under victory conditions.  It is very clear from this screen what you still need to research.
