GRM Ideology 1.2 Now Available

GRM Ideology 1.2 Now Available

I've taken it upon myself to rebuild the Ideology system... it'll redo all the traits and eventually galactic events as well.

Goals:

1) Remove the "good VS evil" dichotomy. The three branches will all have moral ambiguity and represent more nuanced ideas.

2) Each chain, if pursued, will have great benefits (duh) but will also include minor penalties.

3) Relatively balanced chains.

4) Removing the color coding (which creates a bias) and hiding the exact results of ideology events. Obviously events repeat and you will be able to figure it all out, but I hope to make the decisions harder. If I can I may even randomize or have split bonuses (decisions that contribute to two ideologies instead of just one).

5) Most likely making basic Ideology Buildings universally available from the beginning, allowing player's to produce their ideology points without relying on events and colonization. Allbeit more slowly.

The three Ideological edges that I'm considering right now?

Egalitarianism, Materialism, and Survivalism

AKA: Collectivist, Capitalist, and ... Militarists?

A conservative minded empire like ancient China? Mostly going to focus on the Egalitarianism with a dose of Survivalism.

The Roman Republic? Materialist Survivalists

The European Union? Egalitarianism and Materialism (sounds weird but it just means they are balanced).

Not saying its perfect and I welcome suggestions, but its a good springboard for something better than "Good, Evil, and Reasonable People".

Currently I've started on the Egalitarianism Chains and have two:

1) Cultural Diffusion: Trade Bonuses, freighters, influence, and a little diplomacy. Minor Gross Income Penalties.

2) Intellectual Pursuit: Scientists, Spies, Research at the cost of Morale (networking your people to process data while they sleep? Sure!!)

Thoughts?

PS: Removing the color-coding on all these icons is a bit of a chore lol...

1) Where is your mod being hosted? I assume Nexus.

2) What do you mean by include? You can have a mod listed as a pre-requisite which would be my general preference.

3) But in general, as long as appropriate credit is given. Sure!

Hey Gauntlet, are you still working on this mod? It is good as is but I was hoping you would do a little embellishment.

Either way, thanks for what you do. You have been quiet lately and I have missed you.

Hey there!

Am I actively working on the mod at this moment? No.

How come?

1) Lot of life stuff. We all have drama, but it happens and it slows us down.

2) Got a puppy... its been about 2 months? He's awesome, lots of work. Canaans are a cool breed by the way, though they do have a couple downsides.

3) Total War, Warhammer 2 consumed any gaming time I had... but I've done the campaign and the mortal empires expansion campaign twice... so I'm satiated for now.

4) I play miniature games... spare time was also used painting. My various hobby work ebbs and flows ya know?

Things are calming down a bit, so I'm going to get back to work on finishing up a shipset for GRM and a maintenance release... then I need to get back to work on this one.

SOooo yeah... no promises, but things are starting to turn towards working on GC projects again.

2) All the mod is included but i have made some minor changes to fit with my mod. I have also corrected a few typos.

Wow Canaan is a rare one. Look forward to your future work when you get back to it

Hey guys! GRM-Ideology has been updated!

  • Should be good for version 2.7 of GC
  • Fixes some bugs, especially with adding leaders/etc.
  • Some new events in there for sure! You just might find a Merc on an abandoned planet!

Congratulations. This is probably the best mod in the game. It changes the whole way the game in played.

Instead of working on these very obvious paths to improvement and always selecting the proper events to push you forward on this path you cannot actually play the game for the improvements you need now.

I think that Stardock needs to add something just like this into the game. This is probably the match that I opened that I've really enjoyed in a couple of years in this game. It is all because of the unknown with your MOD.

Keep up all of the great mods. This is really a Game Changers.

Stardock add something like this to the game!

Wanted to check. One of the anomalies in my Anomaly mod I have out gives Ideology points to your primary Ideology (the one you currently have the most points in). Do you think there would be any conflict using this mod with mine?

For that reason? No.  However this mod currently does edit anomalies which likely conflict.

Nothing terribly fancy. Just adds a few citizens and reduced the number of precursor anomalies

Thank you very much! I'm very pleased with how the mod is shaping up! I'm also glad that it seems there are multiple smart choices with the chains... personally I keep going down a few certain ones, but that might just be my personality (I tend to go for survivalism, and then the augmentation chain). I'm going to continue tweaking but I think I'm in an OK place right now!

I found an issue with Super Shark. The Pragmatic bonus value for food is incorrect. Should be 50%, actual is -10%

Ahhh excellent! Thank you! Found and fixed for next version!

Another issue but not sure which event it comes from. Every so often I find a world (mine or conquered AI) that has a blank description in the colony screen. ie under Research it lists the modifiers such as Research Treaty from Orion 25%. Whatever the event is just shows nothing. Wish I had more info about it.. will be a bugger to find.
