MASSIVE lag in multiplayer

Hello, when in multiplayer games, my girlfriend gets HUGE lag, up to 20 second delay when performing any action.

The temporary fix we found was changing the resolution to any other option. The lag goes away for about 2 minutes, then returns. If we change resolution again we're free of lag for another couple minutes.

 

Laptop Specs:

Intel I5 processor

8GB ram

Nvidia GT 630m graphics card

100GB+ free hard drive space

Current resolution: 1366x768

 

Any ideas what could resolve this?

Maybe attempt to reverify your game files on both machines.  

Should that fail, maybe attempt renaming your GC3Crusade or GalCiv3 Folder (depending on if you have Crusade or not) by adding a "B" or "2" after it.  This will force the game to recreate this file from scratch.  The down side if you are playing the base game you will have no custom ships/factions in your game.  I advise then trying a game with just the core factions or just the two custom factions that you normally play with along with the core factions.  If you are playing Crusade MP can only be played at the moment with the core factions so you should be okay.  The folder can be found here...  C:\Users\"PCName"\Documents\My Games

I know I have not seen this issue while playing MP in Crusade or prior to Crusade with the base game so if that still doesn't fix it, I would suggest creating a support ticket at Stardock.com/support.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

 

We are playing Crusades, with the opt-in patch (same problem without the opt-in patch btw).

We're not using any custom factions.

We have verified our files twice. Both times it said there were problems and re-downloaded 2 files.

I guess i'll try changing the folder names like you said and force it to restore those
