Crusade Long Turns

I have been playing a game with the Terran Alliance since the Crusade launch. I have a large galaxy. The turns were zipping along about 1 to 3 seconds nearly every turn until around turn 180 then the turn processing sloooowed way down. Each turn now processes at about 30 seconds to 1 minute. That is a real let down from a couple of seconds to so many. Tried restarting the game, same result. Restarted Steam, same result. Restarted my computer, same result. Not sure what happened. During my turn, everything I do works very well. Loving the game up to this point. I especially wanted to point this out as a really big deal was made out of how someone at Stardock (Carrie??) had fixed the long turn processing that plaqued the GC3 base game.

Not sure what the next step is to hopefully get this resolved. Any suggestions is appreciated.

Hi,

My slow turns only started after it updated to 2.13 so I suspect it may be that.  It's also started behaving a bit strangely during turns, sometimes seeming to play AI ship moves while I'm still moving my guys. I presume this is something to do with fixing the bug that was often freezing the game after the first update took effect.

Cheers,

Jon

I am having the same issue, turns are taking forever. Granted I'm running an AMD 8350 so I don't know if Crusades is customized for Intel, or Ryzen, but it is very, very frustrating.

I have found that at least for me if I zoom way in to some out of the way area with no traffic of any kind before I hit next turn, that the turns go by faster in the later game. Dunno if this will help you or not, but you might try it and see if it does. Hopefully a more permanent fix or official suggestion is forwarded.

Have the same issue. Turns take a ludicrous amount of time.

Same - (with Ludicrous map with half a dozen AIs. 300-and-something turns in and turns are taking around 1 minute to process (i7 oc' to 4.5 GHz))

Interesting. Now I'm curious how it would perform on a 8 core CPU. If it's a CPU issue at all.

I just got to play a fair amount this weekend. I noticed that after 50-60 turns the turn time went from a few seconds to over a minute.

Trial and error: Huge, 8 AI + my race, mostly abundant settings

1. I tried to restart my cpu and reload...no change in turn times

2. I tried with with less mods, so a new game. The turn times were seconds until 40ish turns then over a minute.

3. I tried with no mods, so a new game. The turn times were seconds until 40ish turns then over a minute.

Going to try a smaller map with fewer AIs and see if that helps. I have never seen the game slow down so much before patch 2.2. I feel like I am playing Civ6. That is why I am trying to figure out if it is my settings or something else.

Same issue here.  Large galaxy, started w/ 12 opponents.  Around turn 200, the "waiting turn" lag has gotten to around 45 seconds.

Yup same game is lightning fast at first but then all of a sudden turns just get super long, way earlier than super long turns in gc3. Usually gc3 super long turns happened late enough in the game where there was enough going on in your turn that you could tab out or afk while the turn went.

now in turns 100 or so when you are stil basically spamming turns / doing nothing on your turn. You are stuck waiting. In fact im waiting for a turn right now. At least the game is much more stable and does not wait turn hang or just crash while tabbed out like old gc3 used to do.

But yeah running a pretty high end system and barely using any of my resources but still slow turns.

Also yeah large map but only 12 AI. AI flies through turns ( not sure how accurate that turn image is at the bottom right) then jus sits for 1-2 min until my turn pops.

If I remember correctly frogboy mention something about working on this issue.  Hopefully we will have something soon.

I am currently on turn 126, gigantic map with 62 civs. Turn length is barely a two seconds.  I have a laptop with 32g ram, GTX 1080 vid card and quad core i7 @ 3.2ghz.    So far so good.... I am running at 1080p as well. I guess I will find out shortly if the slowdown happens....

Hi guys, massive improvements to turn times 'should' be coming with 2.3 if they do not break anything.

The more cores your CPU has the more speed-up you will get. 2 or less cores, your probably going to get the same performance.
