short story: Ingame, no matter if its an easy or genius ai, at the first contact (after some rounds) mostly ai has already "orbital manufacturing". 10-20 rounds later nearly everyone has "zero gravity".
Means, the game pushes everyone to concentrate on researching those - if a slowdude doesnt, he will struggle soon.
In my opinion that is going way too fast. I would like around 100 rounds in "orbital manufact", then the ai and me reach "zero gravity", and maybe in round 250 we reach "large". I nearly never built a small hull ship and skipped it, cause they are nearly worthless some rounds later anyways.
to the mod-idea: I can edit the TechDefs.xml of every fraction and change the research time that is needed to finish the tech - but will it work? Iam afraid the ai still will try to get those techs as before and hangs 200 rounds just on getting the next hull size. But I want to slow down only this tech and want to force the ai and the player to concentrate on other techs, specalize the small hulls and make insane battles with lots of small ships, till it gets in the next "aera".
Any tips? Did someone think about that too before me?
btw, i tried playing with very slow and very fast research-rate, but it doesnt make much difference for the topic i wrote here.
