Do you have mods enabled and do you have any installed?

Yes I have them enabled and I do have stuff from the workshop. Can you disable mods from command line?

I read how to dis able mods by editing the Prefs.ini file. Unfortunately the game still crashes with mods disabled

Validate files (click setting and validate files from the stardock launcher) and see if it works after that.

Thanks but I have Validated many times using both the Stardock launcher and through Steam. Both say there are 1 or more files that are bad and need to be reacquired. And after several attempts at validation I do finally get that ALL files check good. So....

I then reboot my computer, Validate again and verify still ALL CLEAR and I click on the damn icon. I choose play from the launcher window and within seconds I get the window that says "The game must have crashed" and also asks for some info and email address. So then I validate again ... And of course it shows 1 or more files bad again. SO I go through the whole process over and over and it never starts.

Very frustrating because I have played for 350 hours and no major issues. So what could have changed in one day? In fact I was playing the game, saved it, shut down and came back a few hours later and tried to start game and BOOM !!!! This SUCKS !!!

1 file validating is normal.

Yeah I don't think the validating of the files is the issue here for me. Its either corrupt files or my laptop. I can play anything else I own and I already have played many hours on this laptop so I am assuming it is the software. I can't get support to reply to me since Wednesday when I filed a ticket so I am just getting frustrated. Thank you for any help offered

Support should normally respond within two business days, but please be aware that if you've sent any followup emails before hearing from them, that can delay getting a response since it resets the queue.

What video card do you have?

There is an issue with certain laptop video cards (Intel based video cards) that are doing this.

I get crashes when I have to many opponents which I had to scale back ten with the latest patch. Try using tn less opponents.

  Interesting...

I do have an Intel based video card on this laptop. It has worked always before, in fact for over 350 hours of game time. I wonder what changed? An update on their part? Any ideas before I go searching for information on this issue?

As for too many players... I can't even get the game to start LOL, But I too have had issues with huge games in the past, had to tone it dawn a bit for more fun.

If only I could get Stardock Support to answer my tickets ( 2 of them) I sent in last week. I should would like to talk to a tech who knows whats up .... HINT HINT !!

HEY STARDOCK ... RESPOND TO THE DAMN TICKETS WILL YA ... GEEEEZ !!!

What is your ticket number? If you reply to the ticket before they respond it will set your ticket back to the queue.

Sorry you are having issues but that was the reason for your delay,zzyzzyxx2.

When you keep asking for status on a ticket, in your case, 5 times over 4 days, it keeps us from seeing it in a timely manner (we view by oldest 'activity' so we help people in order). When you respond so often (without a reply from us), that is 'activity'.  It's why your auto reply states to only update a ticket when you have vital information to add.

As for your case, the video drivers for you Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 are from 2012.  The auto responder, that you should have received (please let me know if you did not), would have given options to check them and where to update.  Here is where you should go:

Intel:

Why it would have worked prior, but not now, is likely a case of the game using something new that did not expose your dated drivers.

Thank you for responding, I get that I held it up. Thank you for the info. I will see if I can fix this laptop, otherwise maybe time for an MSI dominator or something

Intel updated their video driver is what happened.  I used to demo the game on my Surface Pro 4 and then they updated the driver and boom.  I'm looking into the cause but it's not...obvious.

There's a beta driver out there that supposedly fixes it but I don't know where.
