So I never use the base ships in game.   I always design my own ships.

So one of the features of the shipyard is completely useless... that would be the "use current design"

If I make a ship design and name it  "Yormuncher"    and then get better engines and go back to the ship deisnger, there is not a "upgrade design" option.. only a use this design option.

So Yormuncher MKII  is seen as a totally new ship.    Both Yormuncher and Yourmuncher MKII show up as ships I can build.  This needlessly clutters both the designer and the shipyard.

I have asked several times in the past that an option be added to the designer to change "use this design"  to be Upgrade

then when saving the design we can have a check mark to "Save as Unique" 

Save as Unique would allow me to use my Yormuncher design and perhaps equip it with different defenses and now call it "FrogMuncher" and still build both ships   Whereas not saving it as unique would cause the upgrade to replace the old ship... the old ship would automatically be obsoleted so you don't have it sitting around in the shipyards...


has any of this been done?
