Cloaked Ship

What would be a cool feature would be cloaked ships.

Would need different tech levels to cloak different size ships (smaller are easier).

Also would/could/should reveal themselves every once in a while (maybe start of turn?, when firing, etc).

Also would need advance sensors to detect them, both at a base level and ship level.

Cloaking is already present. Just unused. (Unless your Klingon or Romulan in my GST mod *Evil Grin*)

The reason cloaked ships haven't made it in the game yet according to past posts from Dev's, is that there are many AI issues with cloaked ships that they haven't ironed out.  They decided to work on other things instead.

If you want a cloaked ship, simply fly through a wormhole!

Your probably not invisible to the AI though?

Also can other players see your invisible wormhole ship or not in multiplayer?

Maybe actual cloaking is not easy or worth it to make, but maybe a different way will work just as well. If it hasn't been attempted, having the ship reduce the sensor range of of ships within its sensor range? Something like the Starbase module that slows ships. Just a thought.

Actually that is jamming, but already used in the game to influence weapon accuracy.

From the perspective of realism though, jamming is appropriate to reducing sensor range.... since radar jammers actually exist, whereas no jammer for weapon accuracy exists, instead they call that 'counter measures'.

Wait...so if I mod the game by changing the tags from accuracy to sensors, and then putting the code on a sensor; then it would jam the ai's sensors!?!?

I highly doubt that would work, but then, I'm no modder?
