Starbases showing upgrade option 1.83 when none avail

In the 1.83 update I've noticed more and more where starbases are continuing to show that they can be upgraded with the upgrade indicator when no docked constructors are avail.  If one attempts to build another module it adds it to que.  The modules are single point build modules so it's not a multipoint issue.

Has anyone else seen this?

Not sure i get what you mean?

In an earlier version, if there are no available constructors, all the available modules are shaded out and cannot be selected.

Since they added the module queue list, that no longer happens, which is just plain annoying for anyone using non generic constructors.

When a star base has an available constructor module ready to build a module to the star base there is a little red icon that appears on the main map next to the star base indicating that it can be upgraded immediately.

This is what I'm saying is showing now sometimes even when no constructor modules are available at the star base currently.

Ahhhh yea, now i know what you mean!

It is handy to spot idle starbases stuck in limbo.

They get stuck in limbo when i cannot chose the starbase type i want because the correct type is not available because of having to wait another turn for range extension..... and then of course i forget and the starbase sits abandoned ..... damn i hate having to wait for range extension, such a pain in the arse.

I still don't think we're on the same page I'll have to create a screenshot when I get a chance.

I have seen it a few times, but put it down to my GST mod which does use mutipoint modules. I also see the "docked" icon on starbases that do not have ships docked or have modules granting fighters.

Don't worry i know what you mean, yes i have seen it..... how it affects me is that it makes me think it is a starbase i forgot to upgrade because i was blocked by having to wait for range extension and forgot. I will click on the stupid starbase every now and then but no constructor is there, yes, its annoying.

It caused me to change my strategy when my upgrade is blocked by having to wait for range extension.... i always now eject the constructor and pass its turn, so i will automatically come back to the constructor next turn.

We gotten reports of this in the past, but haven't been able to repro.  Any information you could provide would be helpful.  Thanks

Just playing a new MP game started after 1.83 it happens with about 1 in 5 star bases, prior to this I hadn't noticed since about 1.6 or so.  I have the saved game and can provide screenshots but, it shouldn't be that hard to reproduce.  I currently have about 30-40 star bases and about 5-10 are reflecting this error.  Seems to me like the flag just isn't catching some of the time to turn that icon back off, similar to the bug that is still present with captured unhappy planets still show unhappy.

Its very likely a flag isn't getting cleared, probably related to the starbase changes in 1.71.

Have you seen it in single player?

I have seen it in single player..... seems like it only does it when things start getting busy and the computer is starting to feel the work load.

Possibly if you have a more powerful computer, it wont reproduce the error?

It usually happens to me if i can build modules in a starbase and have a constructor in it, which i cant move out because it has no movementpoints left,

after moving it out the next turn the symbol (orange upward arrow) stays.

That could be rite actually?

Where i usually see the problem is when my upgrading is blocked by having to wait for range extension. I need to eject the constructor or i will forget to come back next turn. If the constructor ran out of move, i have no choice but to set it to move out next turn.... then that will initiate the false upgrade reading.

Once i get to the point where starbase advancement is no longer as urgent, then i will assemble constructors next to every starbase before upgrading all in one go. That saves all the confusion of which constructor is going to which starbase and which starbase needs it and which dousnt.

Once i am doing things that way, i no longer see anymore false upgrade symbols

This is normal, if I'm reading your post correctly and is acting as intended.

I hadn't played single player since 1.83 was released.  I started a game last night, however, to this point I haven't noticed it in single player.  With that being said I only have a handful of star bases built to this point.  I will continue the game over the next couple of days and keep you posted.

I can confirm though this in MP as that is where I was noticing it and created the post about.

Ok, I'm going to file a bug for the team to investigate.
