Is there a way to see ships that you don't meet qualifications for yet?

OK been designing ships usually per game.

Start a new game, and I know sort of what I'm looking to design/need and I know I've designed a similar ship in the past, but can't see it.

It would be nice to be able to see all ships that I don't currently meet requirements. This would also help with Hey, I need this "x" ship, what do I need to produce it...

It would allow me to answer "what am I missing" to build what I want/need.

Note: I assume I can use cheat mode to see these, but don't want to go that route. (I want to have goals...).

I think they used to show all the ships in the ship designer but i think they took it out to make it easier for players because the ship lists were too long?

There are options for this in the options of the main menu. Two are see all designs, and see over something.

I am away from game, but it is display all ship styles and display over capacity designs or words close to those.  It does not show you ships for which you need bigger hulls or additional military techs.  That requires the kind of cheat code you are avoiding.

Yeah, guess I am looking for those ships which I just don't meet the tech criteria yet.

I know I've designed it in other games, but forget the exact details....

I have a late game save I keep around for ship designing.  It has all the techs in question researched.  I open up the game and play around in the ship designer without worrying about tech and capacity or cheat codes.  You could keep a late game around as a quick reminder of ships you have designed.

Thanks ec, good idea. Though can you run multiple games at same time? Or do you have to open/close each time.

What would be cool tool/addon (outside of game) is ship viewer - even if it just displayed stats/techs/etc.

Maybe a virtual machine.

The best I can do is borrow one of the family Steam accounts and run two games side by side on two systems with separate screens.  Not elegant, and not appreciated by the people who think that second machine should be playing their games.  ;)  Otherwise, I do have to exit one game to look at another.
