Ship During Movement Doesn't Expose Unexplored Areas

This has happened to me in the past but I neglected to comment on it. At times, I'll send a ship, and it doesn't matter what type but in the below example it's a survey ship, to an area to explore and I'll focus my attention elsewhere and a couple of turns later I'll go to that part of the map to check on the ship and notice that there are gaps in its' path where space has not been exposed despite traveling through it. It's a bit annoying to then have to go back over an area just to expose those areas. In the pic below I had already sent the survey ship back along its' path and it exposed one area already:

Weird, never saw this happen in any of my games.

On a couple of occasions (very rare) i did have a ship temporarily fail to explore space it was traveling through right after an action of some kind, i forget what exactly? Upgrade or anomaly, who knows? but the next turn it works properly again. Anyway, i have not seen that happen since 1.8

And your sure it didn't go through a wormhole. Are you playing an insane galaxy.

I can confirm that this happens. Almost every time, it is a ship that had a very long movement path. I also notice it more often after a spamming end turn phase.

I've seen this as well...

Enter a wormhole along its' originally plotted path and appear a little farther down along its' originally plotted path, each and every time I've seen this? Yeah... no, no wormholes. Besides, it was not surveying, only exploring by my direction. ;)

Nope, Gigantic this time around. It happens on all the top 3-4 sizes of galaxies (the only sizes I play on). As you can see by the other responses, I'm not alone in this experience. The only mods I use are the same custom races I've used since day one of being able to have custom races in the game.

Does this only occur if the ship is offscreen when it moves?

Yes. At least that is my observation of the bug. Reloading a save will also clear the "unexplored" FoW. Its not really unexplored but greyed out sections. If you look closely, zoomed in The FoW graphics have been cleared but leave the greyed out patch behind.

Yes, at least for me that also is the case. Reloading the game exposes all the areas that were explored but not exposed.

I was wrong this is happening to me when all I was exploring.

Just tested it, and that seems to be the case.

I can confirm this as weil.  I believe it came up in an earlier thread.  It happens with ships with high movement given very long multi-turn autopath moves that occur offscreen during more than one turn.  (In other words, you do not scroll the screen to reveal that area.)  Reloads will recover proper display.  Occasionally, a second ship with a decent sensor range will have its sensor range come near or touch the area that should have been revealed by the first and some of the previously hidden fog will get revealed along with the second ship's natural sensor reveal.  That was strange when it happened and I could not replicate the behavior because any reload would already clear things up.
