XML Tags in Tech tree
What do the TAGS element in the techdefs.xml do
Do they have any bearing on the tech in question,
Can they be omitted, when creating a custom tree.?
<Tags>Hulls</Tags>
<Tags>NonMilitary</Tags>
<Tags>BiggerHulls</Tags>
etc.
Stardock will be closed for the week starting on Monday, June 29th and we will be returning on Monday, July 6th. We will be monitoring support tickets and forums during this time but expect delays in responses during this time.

Does any one know what all of the elements do specifially, or point me in the right direction.
I want to update my tech tree editor with tool tips before the next release.
Thanks.
Those are sometimes used by the AI in deciding what it needs, and by some events that effect Tech Research.
If it's like the miniscule bit of C I poked around with years ago, those open up the specified terms for use later in the program. If you omit those lines, then any processing that tries to use those terms might break.
there are certain UP resolutions & such that affect the cost of techs based on them I believe
