[reproducible BUG] talking to other faction during turn wait == black screen

This will be easiest to duplicate on a really large map like insane with LOOOOOTS of other races so you have time, but it's existed since beta I think :(

  1. start a single player insane map with a crapton of races (I use like 20+ these days)
  2. order of this step seems irrelevant: meet one or more races & research universal translator
  3. click end turn
  4. during the phase where the ai is doing it's thing, go into diplomacy screen -and- speak to someone
  5. before all the ai finishes doing its thing, cancel back to the map
  6. screen will go black with the custom gc3 cursor as expected when the turn finishes
  7. sigh & end task because you forgot to wait... again
  8. there was one time I got a message about waiting for other player (with an ai in single player game) & just left it sitting while I went to make coffee.  it did not happen after I got back that time

I just tried this a few times and wasn't able to reproduce.  Can you submit a ticket so we can help you out more?  Thank you.

End of pshaw's quote

yes, I'll try to fraps it or something later

edit: filled it out.  I thought it was a sure thing.  tried several times in the same game save it happened in last without success.  I'm not sure what conditions are required to allow it, but the steps above are at lest part of the lynchpin/keystone that triggers it.  although I hit it occasionally since beta (and less often since), I don't know how much of that can be attributed to a conscious effort not to open the trade window during the turn wait  :(

Oh, is that what I did that made the same thing happen?

The only thing I was doing different from you was that I was already in a game that had progressed a few dozen turns and ended up loading an auto-save because I messed up and gifted a tech I didn't mean to. It particularly doesn't like it if you load a save whilst in play - that almost makes the game fall over on its own.
