1.7 MP Crash (Joining player crashes upon starting new Game)

Basically just what the title says as soon as we start a game the game crashes as soon as the game loads for the joining player.  Didn't matter who hosted the game.  Please see ticket

Thank you, we spent about an hour last night attempting to get the game working with multiple configurations.  I had verified my game integrity, the other player had completely removed his game and reinstalled.  This had no change.

All games included just 2 custom faction (normal ones we've played with before with no changes) and/or several core factions to the game.

Game sizes didn't matter anywhere from Medium to Huge.

Abundant stars

Loose/Tight Clusters or Scattered.

Teams or no teams

Even no AI in a few.

So IDK what was causing it.

Thank you, I will get with the other player and see if we can't get that information for you, may not be until Sunday evening though :(

Still crashing even with him removing ship designs.  Updated information to the ticket including both of our debug.err files and the crash tool that Sean suggested was running and appears it submitted information for you.

This ticket was closed with no additional responses.  We attempted additional options last night including renaming our My Documents/GalCivIII folder so it creates new on game launch, we attempted multiplayer game between just the two of us using core factions, I Thalan, him Terran.  Game still crashed as soon as it loaded.

We were able to reproduce the crash internally today on a different machine.  It appears that if one of the PCs has a ship design copied into the core game folder,  the game will crash in multiplayer on the other machine in the same spot as you were experiencing.  The files could have been manually copied or added incorrectly by a mod.  Validation the steam files would not fix the problem as steam doesn't check for files that shouldn't be there.    We're going to publish a list of files that "should" be there so you can check it the folder yourself. We'll be creating a more permanent fix in the future that will basically always ignore any rogue ship files in the game folder.

Hopefully this will address your issue.

Tested, however now we, I, have a whole new issue, it appears my install is corrupt.  I've tried completely uninstalling the game both in the Steam/Common folder and My Documents folder deleting both and reinstalling but, now we can't get the lobby to acknowledge me clicking ready in either version 1.7 or 1.71.  Finally in 1.7 we were able to start a game :) 1.71 is a mess with us though at this point.

See new ticket RJM-589-85783

Edit: It appears to be working now, deleted my My Documents/GalCivIII folder again and now it's working so IDK.
