Mercenaries - any new Steam achievements planned?
Are there going to be any new Steam achievements? For example, winning as the Torians, winning as the Arceans, hiring a mercenary, etc? Thanks.

Shhhhh..... It's Friday They are having a Ashes Tournament
Hopefully this will happen soon ![]()
You're right. They're all busy playing the fun Stardock game. ![]()
You could be more specific as they're all fun ![]()
This, race-specific achievements at least please! The achievements in the game are mostly pretty vanila, win as x, win on y, build so many/kill so many z and so forth - I'd love to see a bit of the flair that Ironclad put into Sins of a Solar Empire's achievements under Stardocks tutelage - niche pointless things like space ponies and lots of other situation achievements would be great!
Please guys, I'd love to have something to aim at along the way to the damn 1000 hour achievement
Cheers, Fate
I've been putting off playing as the Torians and Arceans, waiting to see if achievements for them were coming. In my current game I'm winning while not building any military ships of my own (except for transports), just relying on mercenaries hired and ships found in anomalies - that might make for a good Steam achievement.
That won't give you enough ships to fight with.

Well that depends on your play style and your victory conditions, doesn't it? In my current game I'm soon going to ally with the Arceans, Altarians, and Iridium, and the powerful mercs I've hired look like they'll be plenty strong enough to take on the Drengin.

There's like 24 mercenaries, and not all of them is combatant ships. And say, you battle drengin empire that has like 200+ ships. He has enough of you defeating him piecemeal so he brings his entire armada and stomp on you in one fell swoop.
And then, that's not always possible even if you win, you would need to repair.
Like I said, play style - map size, map settings, etc. In my current game the Drengin only have 70 ships, not all of them combat, and all of them far below the tech levels of my mercs. And just because I suggested that as a possible Steam achievement doesn't mean it needs to be possible to accomplish in all possible games, just that it might be something interesting to play for.
And anyway, you could get that achievement without ever going to war, winning by alliance, influence, research, or ascension without ever firing a shot (except perhaps for some pirates).
Okay.
I have an all peace game going on. It wasn't my idea, but it worked out that way. It is an excessive size map with abundant anomalies. I have a large set of ships gained from those anomalies. The first one came from the first survey, then I bought two survey mercenaries. Then an anomaly gave me a survey ship. As I developed more territory and found more anomalies the amount of ships I was collecting started snowballing. I can easily envision someone with more stubbornness than sense pulling off a conquest victory without building a war ship, especially with a scavenging faction.
Still not hearing anything from Island Dog or Frogboy about achievements.
Love that idea for an achieve Publius!
Thanks very much @Fate. I have no idea how difficult it would be for the developers to implement the idea, but I thought it might provide a bit more interest in the Mercenaries DLC. Which, by the way, I am enjoying a lot.
Me too, me too. Arcean ship designs are the prettiest, most lethal looking stock designs I've ever seen! I played a game just to max out the tech tree to see what sort of monstrosities I can build! Huge hulls are beautiful! They almost remind me of the Turin ship designs in the Mass Effect universe, a lesson in sharp, angular lines that just look dangerous!
