Ship Images not displaying in Designer, Shipyard, Battle or when looking at a ship's 'details'

After the 1.6 update the image for ships in the designer, shipyard and in battle sequences does not appear.

In the designer I can still see the thumbnail version of the available designs once I've selected 'new design' but the central image is blank. Nor does any image for the ship display in the battle viewer, or when I'm looking at the 'details' option when I've clicked on a ship.

They do appear on the main map though, so I'm confused...

So what gives? Where'd they go? They were there in 1.5.

I went back and updated my drivers for my graphics card, with no effect. Do I need to reinstall? Or is there something else I am ignorant of? Can someone help? Though I don't play the game for the pretty pictures of ships, it really does lose something when you just see a blank spot where you know there should be a ship to rotate and look at should be...

This pointed me to examining my graphics card, and its apparently not up to snuff (as primarily a wargamer, this hasn't ever been an issue before). It's only a Radeon HD4xxx series, which I notice is not up to the minimum system requirements. 

That's fair enough, it just caught me off-guard since it worked (seemingly) perfectly prior to this point -- though admittedly, I've got the autosave set to every turn to avoid irritating wasted time from the occasional crash. It just would be nice if updates weren't mandatory, I could play 1.4 just fine and sadly can't purchase myself a new graphics card anytime soon :>/

Sorry that the game is not working on your system.  Have you tried setting your performance preset settings to low?  Also we've put a legacy build of 1.4 up that works for people with below min spec cards.  Have you tried that out yet?
