I thought that vigilant trait would give free ships + they would also come with no maintenance cost. It was a big surprise that they have maintenance cost, it almost cost me one campaign game. I just immediately grabbed all the costly escort ships and hurled them all at the nearest meatgrinder target to get rid of all of them immediately and gain territory at drengin's expense.
It needs to be relabeled you gain 3 escort ships for each controlled planets, starbases etc. Then I will understand that maintenance for them isn't free. Cuz people will read the word "Free" and assume no maintenance cost.
