[1.6 beta] There aren't nearly enough Precursor relics now, etc etc

I think it was the Feb 12 update patch to our beta that reduced the number of Precursor planets. I think the reduction was by 1/2 or even 1/3. This is OK as now while not impossible to find, they aren't everywhere.

Note that I play large galaxies vs 7 random incredible AI's. I don't play the enormous galaxies that some of us here play.

Anyhow, in 1.5 and with Precursor Relics frequency set to abundant, there'd be about 7 in a large galaxy. But since the beta update I've only found 1 in 4 games! Perhaps there's another one but the AI grabs it before I can get there. I prioritize early scouting as well.

It seems to me, that when the frequency of PC planets was reduced, that the same reduction was unfortunately was applied, resulting in PC relics being few and far between!

Note now that the AI can go after these as well! I read about the AI not needing support ships along with the surveyor. I don't like this at all and strongly think that the AI could and should be taught to bring along adequate fire power and shielding to win the battle just like the human player needs to. Perhaps the computer could sim the AI battle vs PC relics and graveyards and not attack unless it will win.

So considering that the AI can go after PC relics, how many should there be when set to abundant? Well in a large galaxy about 1 per player seems right to me and, of course distributed randomly. So that would make 8 for my settings. Note that these have been nerfed from initial DLC release and are less of a big deal.

As it is now, people buying the DLC will be unhappy to rarely encounter a PC relic.

Thx .. neilkaz ..

People buying the DLC now will think that is the way it is supposed to work and that precursor relics are very special and worth celebrating.  Unless, of course, someone convinces them they are being cheated somehow.  It is a matter of perspective.

It's all a balancing thing, Stardock just needs to find the happy medium and they'll get there :)

My concerns is that people buying the DLC, many of whom won't try to max out PC R's to abundant and many of whom play in smaller galaxies will see very very of them.

I posted this to make Stardock aware that the number of these has declined with the beta update Feb 12 that properly reduced the number of PC planets.

What they do with this is their decision, but my advice remains that there should be at least a few of them when set to abundant for a large galaxy.

Hmm, well this whole debate over how rare they should be is irrelevant. Because that is the whole point of having the abundance settings, so people can chose for themselves.... so fix it!

If someone wants so much of something that its just absurd, then let them have it, let them play their game thinking how crazy it is there are so many.... and next time they might turn it down a bit.... what is wrong with that? you tell me?

Is there a map generation setting for Precursor Relics (anomolies and planets)?  Perhaps there should be one.

Hmm...I've been thinking. I need to launch a game and then use the fow cheat and see how many PC relics there are. Perhaps they are mostly getting scooped up by AI's now before I find them?

Well yes, the AI knows where all the anomalies are without exploring, and they will prioritize the anomalies near your territory first, above the ones near them..... why else do you think you see so many anomalies when you wormhole jump while none are left in your area?
