When are you going to fix the issue with stuck turns finally?

Hello,

Just reinstalled the game today in the hopes that the stuck turn issues on multiplayer games have been fixed only to find to my despair that these issues are still rampant in the game.

Are you guys actually gonna fix these issues that are existing well over a year already or are you just going to cheat more people out of their money with a complete lack of regard for major bugs?

I've been patient long enough and read too many times the usual "oh we have a fix coming in the next patch for that" only to find nothing has changed....

DeepBlue5,

Unfortunately, there is no single stuck turn issue to address and they can be very stubborn to reproduce.  However, with every release we find & fix a few more problems. On the whole, the game has much few stuck turn issues than a year ago, especially in multiplayer.  If you do encounter a stuck turn, please submit a ticket  https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit) with the save game attached and a description of what you were doing.    Not alll stuck turns are reproducible from saves, but more data points do help us triangulate where the problem may be.  Thanks!

Yeah sure a year ago you would get stuck on a turn and have issues saving and reloading those turns, now you get stuck on a turn, reload, play a few more turns only to get stuck again...rinse and repeat for a few hours until you get too annoyed to play again and uninstall.  I wouldn't exactly call that "less problems then a year ago"

As for asking for game saves...sure, you have been doing that for years so you can "triangulate where the problem may be" but after reading historical threads all I see is your guys coming back and saying they were unable to reproduce the issue...funny that a general player then tested some other players game saves and could 100% reproduce the problems that you say you couldn't.

I will however create a ticket and provide you with yet another game save to try and reproduce, bear in mind that the amount of turns you can actually get to play after a save point is highly random, you could get just a couple of turns or you could get 20+ turns before yet another freeze....

I think by 'less problems' he means there's less things that trigger stuck turns. Which is undoubtedly true; I don't play MP and haven't had a stuck turn in a game in months. This is probably something MP specific - and only a really, really tiny number of people play MP (I think SD have said it's <1%), so they don't get a lot of feedback on how well it's working.

A year ago the game would have been in Beta still. I'm in support and I see the tickets that come in on the stuck turn issue. They are rare.

Game saves help the devs see what's happening. They use other tools while playing to pick up on things as well, so save files are valuable pieces of data.

If you could keep the information you provide in reply to strictly facts with data, it would be more helpful than your opinion on the problem.

Just experienced this tonight on my current game, created ticket for it after I force closed, I also included my most recent saved game several turns prior to this.  It locked up on turn 225 going into turn 226.

I have created ticket and expressed my concerns in private on that ticket...  Thank you for your continued support.

Piping in as a software developer...the "random" problems (not really random) that are difficult or impossible to produce can be just as difficult or impossible to resolve.

Years ago I was employed by a company that made software for the newspaper industry. One of our customer sites was experiencing problems with a critical system that I was unable to replicate locally. So, at great expense, they flew me out to the site so I can see the problem first hand. I was there for 3 days....NOTHING. There was no problem to fix. So I flew back home, and while the plane was in the air, the problem struck again.

When you can reliably reproduce the problem as a developer, that usually means about 75% of the work is already done. If you can't...well good luck. Its hard to fix something that isnt broke, believe me.

To reproduce frequently, they just ask your human players to play like madmen during the turn of AI after 200/300 turns

Ask your players to wait until the turn of the IA before starting to play.

I never, ever encountered stuck turn.  Could it be your hardware issue?

This is very common in multiplayer, not as common in single player.  I had it happen once in the last 30 hours of single player game.
