1.5 optin CIV in limbo existence

An AI controlled CIV will go into limbo when using the Benevolent ideology bonus to flip all of its available planets.

The CIV does not seem to be doing anything afterwards with its remaining ship, is shows via a micro-planet in the diplomacy menu and will not be announced that it has been destroyed after hitting next turns

New to the last patch or so, Civs aren't destroyed until you reduce their population to zero.

I'm guessing one of the last ships is either a colony ship or transport.

Luck.

Confirmed - There were a few colony ships remaining in its possession. They weren't doing anything actually although there were some unconsolidated planets in the region (maybe they cannot even move as there is no range calculated for them in this scenario?)

Funny enough the AI could be bought out of existence as buying the colony ships from AI eliminated the faction on the next turn - :)

Wouldn't count this as a bug though as it did ask for a huge price although I think all the resources get back to the user once the trading partner is eliminated so that can save some cash ;)

I doubt that you got the cash back, since they weren't technically surrendering to you.  I suppose they were sticking around in case somebody traded them a starbase near enough to one of those uncolonized planets.  Then they could actually rise up from the ashes and re-enter the game. Not a big chance of that, but there is always desperate hope.

I agree that it is not quite a bug, but I don't think it was an intended outcome.   Congratulations on finding it, though.  That is funny.  Who knows?  Maybe Paul will think it is funny, too, and leave it in there.

They must've had a neoliberal ideology, no?

Edit: They're nihilists Donny..

Agreed

They must have been super nihilist in the beginning - existing only for the sake of existing (well at least after their last planet has been acquired as that was the point their ships lost all intent to move)

But in their last moment of honesty they realised that deep within their seven hearts lies a greed that could only have been filled with money and thus they sold all their precious ships providing their existence - and so they left the plains of the galaxy with a happy smile on their face and a bunch of credits in their pockets

A happy end - but what if they didn't move because they were not capable (thinking on range limitation without planets)?

Well that scenario paints a more sinister plot worthy of an oscar nominated movie

I think what has happened is that there may have been a colony ship station at a planet and when the planet flipped, the colony ship was ejected.  We'll look into it.

Yes, that was the case (one colony and two transports). What is strange about this is that the AI then stops moving its ships altogether after this. Maybe it does not have any range afterwards as there are no planets to calculate it from?

This might be useful looking into as the scenario could also happen to the player. Otherwise it might be best to kick the player out in such cases

Please find the below save to check it out: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jg0hj4nibz51shz/Helvetia.GC3Sav?dl=0

The above save could also be useful to improve AI behavior as it displays a pretty competent AI as well as numerous others that fail to pose much of a threat to it although I have paid them all to wage war on the dominant player at the same time, have quite capable economy and enough distance from the enemy to build up

The only bug i see in this is after the ai lost all its planets there should have been no range limitations.
