1.5 causes main map to disappear

Just as the title says, after the opt in to 1.5, my main map dissapears.  I can still the the remaining ui (albeit not planet icons or ship icons in fleets).  I can still see the cursor which can hover over items on the map (tag shows up) but cannot see maps or items on map.

Fyi- when upgarding to 1.4, i lost ability to see planet icons and ships in fleets. Additionally the graphics in diplomacy also disappeared.  This issue is still present.

While 1.4 made the game barely playable.  1.5 has now made it completely unplayable.

The game was working perfectly in 1.3 and prior.  It is obvious that a change introduced in 1.4 and another in 1.5 have caused serious issues.

I have already deleted local steam content and reinstalled  but to no avail.  My system has not changed since 1.3.

I really like the game (pre 1.4) and would really like to continue to play; but a patch that breaks the game is rediculuilous.   Not just once, but twice.

Any help to resolve would be appreciated.

Sorry that you are having trouble.   We haven't made any changes that should have cause your map to disappear.  Can you submit a ticket (https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit)  so we can collect some more information and get this fixed for you?  Please be sure to include a link to this post in the ticket.

I submitted a ticket.

POF-112-78264

I understand thag this may have been an unintended consequence of a patch(es).  But odd that bugs appeared upon DL of 1.4 and more with 1.5.  Both appearing to have caused graphical issues immediately after DL, but not before.

Any help is appreciated, as i would like to be able to enjoy the game.

Thanks

I have the very same issue. I've submitted a ticket: OWH-918-33887.

(And I've gone through the same mitigation attempts as described.)

Thanks

I am still waiting on a fix as well from my ticket.  I tried the opt in and that is where it became very broken.  When i opt out and remain in 1.4, i can at least barely play, albeit with some graphical issues that make it frustrsting.

I am afraid to DL the new 1.5 release and have it bork up my game without an ability to reverse back to an almost playable version.

Still waiting on help, please.

Okey-doke. I've spent an hour and traced it down to anti-aliasing settings - things now work if they're off. Here's what I did:

Note: my card is an NVIDIA GTX285

From https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/496/161/general-galactic-civilizations-iii-troubleshooting:
1. Applied Permfixer
2. Applied Env Var Missing Path
3. Reinstalled Atlas
4. Verified Game Cache -> received message that 7 files failed to validate and will be reacquired

Tried running GC3 v1.5 New Game in High Performance Settings (which I thought I'd been playing with previously since initial release) but still had no main map.

Did a clean re-install of NVIDIA 341.92 (I was already current but ran this as a precaution), rebooted, tried running, no dice.

On a whim, I reset the game's graphics settings to Low Performance and the New Game ran and showed the main map!

Through process of elimination (turn off an option, exit game, restart game, try to run) I found that I could run with High Performance options but with Anti-Aliasing disabled.

I could have sworn that Anti-Aliasing worked previously, however, I now have a working game again.

@bechiir: try flipping Anti-Aliasing and see if things now work for you.

Did you get our recent responses your ticket?

I did.

Unfortunately the zip did not help with 1.4 graphical issues.

I have not opted back into 1.5 in fear that 1.5 may bork my game conpletely.

Although it is odd, that the issues i have (other map completely disapearing) seem to be related to missing links of sorts to graphic files and/or missing files of sorts.

I forgot to add.  My gtx295 should be able to handle the information propely as it has enough gpower to do so and is set for dx10.1.  Not sure if there is a relaint feature required that the gtx295 may not support?

Can you be more specific as to what missing links you are referring to?

Planet icons are missing on right tab.

User ship icons when in fleets are missing (this makes it tough to see what selecting- however can still select blank space to select ship-even though no icon present)

When in united planets council meeting, all races pictures are missing.

The color of the terrans appear darker blue than previous before 1.4.

The zone of control line shading not as crisp when zoomed out than it was before 1.4

Bechir have you lowered your performance to !ow.  Are you using no anti anializing. Did you lower your resolution. Are you using a small interface in your options. s. Are your power settings in windows set to high performance. Are your windows settings set to best performance. Have you run check disk, defrag, and cleanup on your computer.

I have tried most of those.  But planet icons and stuff still missing. I will try the other to see what happens.

As per above, turning off anti-aliasing worked for me.

FYI we've made the older v1.4.1 available through an opt-in while we look into the issue:
