Q for Stardock team: Modding tech trees for DLC factions

Hello Stardock team. :)

I have a quick question for you all.  I am working on a mod that reworks ALL of the tech trees in the game.  The question I have is, is it allowable to post a mod that has a modified tech tree for a DLC faction?  In this mod, any faction that does not have a replaced tech tree will be at a pretty severe disadvantage.  And since at least one DLC faction (the Snathi) is now a playable faction, anyone who chooses them won't get access to most of the benefits of the mod.  And the same would be true of any other new faction that comes down the pike.

A modified tech tree is the only thing that is getting put in this  mod, FWIW.

I just wanted to make sure what Stardock thinks about this before going too deep into design of my mod.  :)

The vanilla Snathi are just a minor faction. The DLC Snathi are a major faction with their own tech tree and ability.

I think you should clarify whether you're asking if such a mod can/would be suppressed for some high n mighty reason, or if the tech modification process can be automated within a mod.  So in the case of the automating, can today's mod cover future factions, right?  I think the answer is 'no' to either question.  it would've been nice to make one release and then just enjoy the fruits, but no you would be looking at periodic updates if you want your users to be able to play it as you intend.

That's based just on what I know of mods in general.  It might be possible to develop an adaptive mod, but it would be more involved than you imagine, and not worth the trouble.  I think anyway the result would have an assembly-line feel to it.
