Game Crashes on Startup (FIXED)

Game crashes to desktop after startup. I tried removing mods and reinstalling the game, to no avail.

The debug.err comes up with the following issue:

Debug Message:  Failed to load C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\DXAtlasDLL.dll (error code: 193 (0xC1))
Debug Message:  Finished running DXAtlasDLL Generator Program (C:\Users\cchayes\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Screens\Atlas)
Debug Message:  WARNING: GenerateDXAtlasFiles FAILED

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Fixed this by downloading the redist file in the support link and choosing the repair option.

You could try refreshing files in Steam.  Right-click the game in Steam, properties, local files, verify integrity of game cash.

If it persists, make a report to Stardock:

Same thing and I believe there are other Win 10 folks that have issues loading the game as well. Mine pukes on the opening screen and it used to to run beautifully before the upgrade.

Ran the verify cache deal which said it found seven files not right buy I am not sure it fixed them so I reinstalled and still the same problem.

I don't mind doing a few things to make a game run but we are talking major dollars spent here plus my machine which Ashes says is Uber.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to verify the game cache. It reacquired 6 files, but the game still crashes on launch. Any ideas?

And yes, the crashing on the opening screen did start when I installed Win 10. Sounds like the same problem.

Please go through the troubleshooting guide and if you still have issues there's instructions on how to submit a support ticket so we can look into it.

Not really.

Filed a ticket with a data dump to Stardock.

The game has updated to my Asus ROC Win 10 laptop and works perfectly. O:)

Only thing i can think of. Followed the troubleshooting guide and nothing seems to fix it. It gets past the loading screen and crashes every time.

I have this problem too and running Windows 10. I can get trough to game in about 5% of tries and then it crashes usually in few turns. I have done all the things mentioned here but no help at all :(

I will note down here for anyone with nVidia cards -- having shadowplay activated will cause CTD on startup.

Thanks for this! Works like charm now :D

And damn Geforce Experience just installed new version of itself and changed shadowplay UI drastically so i could not find from where to disable Shadowplay so i had to uninstall it :P Got to try to figure it out soon ;)

Thanks again!
