I have the exact same problem. The turn button is active. If I hit it, the game does some ship movement. A greyd out "idle ship" info apears on the turn button and I can tab through that with the short cut. I actually can issue command to three fleets and upgrade a starbase. After that the game hits the "wait"-status described by MottiKhan. I too can only exit and have to kill the process with the task manager.

Thanks for your reply.  I had actually posted that fix for 1.2, but this is different.  As I said in the OP, you can't save the game when it's stuck.  Also, reloading from an earlier save doesn't help.

I also tried disabling all DLCs and the game still stuck on that turn.  Someone else speculated that the problem might be with an AI ship that got stuck on idle.  I'm thinking that might be it, but I can't tell for sure.  Hopefully, they can fix it and the prior game will work.  Until then, I can't risk starting another game.

The only "workaround" (not much of it, actually) I found was to reload from a really earlier save, somewhere around 10 turns at least.

So far, since 1.3 became an opt-in, I've only played two games and I'm still on my 2nd one. Yeah, immense sized map with lots of AI and many turns to complete. In my first game on opt-in#1 I experienced this exact same thing. I was never able to continue with it. Once opt-in#2 came out I started my current game and have yet to encounter this. Hopefully I'll finish this game without issue or a fix and release will happen so I can finish it. It is a bummer that this particular type of bug keeps rearing its' ugly head after all this time.

Major bummer! This needs to be fixed.  At least with the 1.2 bug, we could save and reload while it was stuck, but this new one is a game killer.  I was lucky that my oldest save was old enough to get past it, but what if the next time it doesn't work?  I'm now keeping several older saves and it's a pain.  

At the very least, we should be able to set how many saves it keeps before overwriting them.

I hope they can fix your game.  Just a thought - did you try going back to 1.2 and then reloading the oldest save?  I don't know if it'll work, but even a small chance is worth shooting for.  (I know you went back to 1.2, but not sure if you tried the oldest save at that revision.)

I see that the 1.3 update has been rolled out.  Since this particular problem originated with the 1.3 opt-in, I'm wondering if any progress has been made?

It happened again while I was playing as the Snathi.  This is the third game in a row that has this problem.  It's quite annoying to be playing and have the game just quit after more than 100 turns.

Let's see what we can do to help the devs hunt this one down.  Anyone else with this problem up for it?

Info like map sizes and DLC enabled would help.

I uninstalled GalCiv3 (again) and deleted the folders mentioned in the support knowledge base.  

Since all of my games that got stuck were immense maps, I'm going to start another immense map, but this time with all DLC unchecked except for the Snathi.  This problem predates the Snathi DLC, so I wouldn't think it would be part of the problem.

Since 100% of my games started in 1.3v2 Opt-in and 1.3 release have failed, this one should as well sometime after turn 100.

My other games were in windowed mode, but I'm starting this one in the default full screen mode.

I'll be playing a vanilla game as the Snathi against vanilla AI.  

No mods on a clean install.

I'll update this thread if it goes into eternal wait mode or if I complete it.
