[bug]Different rules for ai communiation>player than player>ai?

it seems like the AI is able to repeatedly contact me demanding X even while I'm still locked out from being able to initiate an attempt to come to a trade agreement (you must wait longer). Often times the same ai will seemingly demand/beg for something 2-3 times between the point where I'm able to start another trade agreement

That's not a bug but a design decision. During development, it was noticed that many people were "gaming" the AI by doing deals with them "too frequently" which gave the player an "unfair" advantage. I don't generally game the game at all so it wasn't an "issue" for me and I don't really mind the current limitation. WHat I don't like is that I never know how much longer I have to wait until I can talk with them again. I would like a added note on the diplomacy screen when it tells me I have to wait longer, I would like to know exactly how much longer do I have to wait. So it's basically a design decision that some really don't like and others don't mind. Will it change in the future? Who knows.

Yea I remember when the wait thing was put in & agree with it, that's why I think it's probably just a matter of the ai's beg/demand functions not being forced to honor a wait timeout.  It's pretty bothersome when an ai keeps demanding $thing, which you would happily trade for $OtherThing, but you can't ask for something else in return

I hear you. It can be a bit annoying at times... Here's looking forward to D/Ling the newest opt-in released today after work tonight!

I rather suspect that once the diplo AI is improved, we'll start to see reductions in the diplo lock-out and an increase in what we can ask it to do - such as properly alliances, telling it to stop colonizing etc. The diplomacy game for the player is probably intended to have most of the same features as the AI currently enjoys, eventually.

Had a half hour before my next person shows up so I ran into the computer room and saw that it had already downloaded (my status from the 1.2 Opt-In still had me showing as having Opted-In) and started a new game. Already saw an issue from the first screen after colonizing a planet. Off to report it.
