[CONTEST] Win some DLC from Gauntlet!

No, Really.

Hey everybody! I don't know about you, but I feel like the forum has been a little bit of a downer lately. Its no one person's fault, and there is plenty for us to talk about that isn't perfectly positive, but personally I felt like we could use a change of pace.

And! I'm a voracious self promoter (at least when it comes to GRM), so I figured I'd run a contest to try and cheer myself up and push GRM at the same time!!!

WINNER GETS A DLC PACK FROM ME!

To win?

Design a new ship for use with Gauntlet's Race Mod for one of the existing GRM races! Post it on the workshop and link it here, or otherwise email me the files via [email protected] for review! When the contest is over, I'll pick the winner or winners!

Don't have GRM? Is something wrong? Can I help you? Otherwise, go get GRM: https://forums.galciv3.com/466227/page/7/#3582914

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1) If you win, you must be willing to accept your DLC via Steam, DLC not to exceed the value of $6.00 USD, but otherwise, you may choose which DLC you want. If you have all DLC you may postpone your prize until a later date. Postponed offers may or may not expire in 2017 or upon my death.

2) By submitting, you agree to me using your design in future installments of GRM, with proper crediting of your contribution. Only winners will be included in GRM, and I reserve the right to choose multiple winners, in such an event, each winner will be rewarded as stipulated in #1.

3) The new ship may be built off of one of my designs, or, it may be made from scratch, but maintaining the stylistic elements of whichever GRM race you choose is definitely recommended. For example, if your design is for the Terran Sovereignty, it makes sense that you use some of the pre-existing terran turrets provided by GRM. On the other hand, you could wow me with an experimental turret design!

4) Bonus points for NOT choosing to make a ship for the Terran Sovereignty.

5) Contest ends September 18th! Winners to be chosen by September 21st!

Thanks for reading and feel free to ask questions!

NOTE: I couldn't find any forum rules against doing this, but if I have breached them in any way, my sincerest apologies.

Woot, it's going! Thanks for doing this man.

I'm really excited for this, and I'll have my hand in it. Unless there's some rule against this and the thread gets nuked, but hey, it's worth a try.

I have all the DLCs and I'm not greedy or selfish, so if I win chances are I'll let 2nd place have the DLC payment (unless I suspect Stardock are making something epic down the line, but even then I'll look at who deserves it more.)

In all honesty I just want a break from my own shipsets, because everything I want to recreate or do from scratch has a similar look, (edit: I really mean it... You don't realise how alike Mass Effect races are until you spend a whole night trying to recreate a curved plate metal sheet) and if I use the Krynn starbase rings one more time I'll pass out or something xD

I think creativity > money anyway, so this is JP, signing on~

Edit: 02:34 +0 Greenwich time, submission posted. That sounded really official but you get the point!

Here's a preview for both Gauntlet and other people:

Well, I already have all the DLC, but it's a good idea. If I were entering, it would be this attempt to do something along the lines of the Dune ships.

It probably would not have wide appeal. I was going for opulent and pretentious, with excessive embellishments that imply massive wealth.

This was done from scratch and I suppose it would fit with the TS better than anything else.

Thanks for the submission JP193! I'll be offering feedback/etc. towards the end of the contest!

Quick note, if you already have all DLC, keep in mind I'll get you one in the future. I believe a recent dev blog/post suggested there would be a Revenge of the Snathii DLC soonish for example.

Actually, I think it would fit Fulgar better.

Sooooo

There is new DLC, that is cool! I'm still game to give some out! But I would certainly love more than 1 submission

I was hoping there was more by now... Only 2 replied here, so I expected you to have emails galore xD

Humans like competition and money/saving money. So logic says this should be doing well...

Ah, we'll see I guess. A few people will find here from the GRM page.

Hey there! Sorry I'm late, nobody seemingly cared lol.

Sooo JP193 ... you are the only submitter. SO to celebrate this unmitigated failure, CONGRATS!! YOU WIN!

Seriously though, I love the supercruiser. It actually offers an interesting change in shape/design from the other Kirani vessels and I appreciate the description you gave and everything! If I come back to add even more designs to each race, I'll be trying to make some that fit in with this one. Also, I like how you made a mega-missile turret!

Please look me up on steam via 'Gauntlet' and I'll happily award you with some DLC.

Also I will be adding your super-cruiser to the next GRM release (soon, I promise!).

Thanks man!

It doesn't entirely seem right to win a DLC here... But I mean this is real life so small-scale heroics don't do anything, and I do want the Snathi, buuuuut if there's ever a chance to actually attract more people maybe I should buy the winner something.

Anyway I'm super happy now, your feedback rules and I'm now I'll have a ship in GRM which is awesome. Almost all owners of the game who know about mods end up downloading it, so they'll see a tiny bit of my work in with yours. I'd use an emoticon here but the forum only has weird ones.

If I went back I'd add a few wires sticking out, and those rotating sensor pods, but overall I too am happy with it. I'm sure you could adapt it if it seemed off anyway.

It is a shame more people didn't jump on, but hey, nothing stopping people making their own ships for fun. Maybe there can be something like this in the future, possibly that I can help with to kinda reset the karma :p

I appreciate everything you said here. Find me on Steam, we will go from there, and if we ever do another contest, I'll happily take you up on your offer.

Thanks everyone! This was a experiment, and perhaps I'll try again when I have a better handle on how to distribute this kind of thing.
