Runaway AI leader in Godlike / Gigantic

Tech trading disabled. No anomalies. Godlike difficulty. Just got a garbled message from the Drengin (no translator at the time).

A quick look at the graphs shows this!

How? They almost have more power than all other races combined. The power level is the same in all categories.

Hard to tell with the info supplied. It could just be early military. Research UT and check out their status on the trade screen.

Yes, good idea to look at trade screen - this gives a clearer picture.

When this screenshot was taken:

They had 95 ships to my 25.

Some of their ships were like: Assault (Medium), 170HP, 33 Beam Def., 48 Kinetic Atk. while mine were maybe 1/4 of that.

They had 20 colonies to my 9.

A lot of my nearby systems had dead planets and nothing above PQ 12.

They had a PQ 28 with an average of 15 or so.

I usually play on Tiny / Small galaxies and I was expecting the starting location to be less important in the gigantic galaxy. It appears in this case the Drengin got a lot of high quality planets near to the starting location.

I forgot to mention that it's a spiral galaxy map. The planet density looks to be greater at the galactic core. I wonder if that's a factor.

One other thing. About 30 turns later, I encountered the Iridium Corp. They were following a similar power growth curve to the Drengin. At turn 114:

Drengin: 3291

Iridium: 1854

Terrans: 442 (after just wiping-out the Thalans)

Altarans: 117

Yor: 169

Iconians: 154 (my race - now lagging behind)

End of Melchitt's quote

It very much does. Those in the center of a spiral will tend to get a lot of planets quickly.

I think that explains it then. Going to retry now but without spiral galaxy!
