[Bug] Yor tech tree can create population even if population more than maxed

Do you like lots of soldiers? I like lots of soldiers.

  1. If the current population is >= the population cap, then the various Assembly jobs (which create population) are grayed out.  This is good.
  2. If the current population is < the population cap, then the various Assembly jobs can be queued up.  This allows races using the Yor tech tree to create massive amounts of overpopulation.  The disadvantage, of course, is that it hurts morale on that planet, but bad morale in exchange for an infinite source of population and soldiers might be unbalanced.

#2 might be by design, but given #1, I don't think it is.

Its a well known design flaw that the devs are working out.

Thanks for reporting. :)

I noticed this issue is still present in Mercenaries.  Any chance it will be fixed?

On the other hand, part of me thinks that synthetics should be able to be go past population caps: late-game Approval tends to be 100% across the board with few if any approval structures, at least on large map sizes.

The devs have blunted the issue. You can still go over a bit but it's not nearly as effective as it used to be.

AIUI, if you build an Assembly project of any type and that single project puts you over the cap, you'll go over the cap.  But all Assembly type projects in your  queue will go away.

Don't see much of an issue with this.  As exploits go, it's fairly minor, IMO.
