I was playing a game, and suddenly I lost. I assume it was because of either ascension crystals, or tech victory from one of the computers. But, the score screen just said defeat. It didn't tell me why or who. Am I missing something?
Yeah, I've had this in a couple of soaks - on conquest/alliance only victories where obviously no one side has managed to take everything over.
Hmm could you load an autosave and look at the Victory screen to see what might have happened?
Would be nice to have the defeat screen give more info when you lose.
Are there no game stats given when it is a defeat? I have seen that screen in the dev streams but didn't notice if there were any options.
I have never lost like that. It would royaly tick me off to get a sudden defeat screen like that with no indication of how and why.
In the dev stream today there was a sudden defeat, and there are options to view stats that should reveal the who, how, and why.
There are stats, but it doesn't say who won. You can look at the number of ascension crystals each race had, and then try to look up how many are needed to win on the map size. But, it should just say 'player 3 won by ascension'.

The stats reveal loads of cool information, but tbh I was left with no real idea who won or from what in a couple of soaks. I'm guessing it was a diplo victory, simply because no other active victory condition could have happened... but I have no idea who achieved it.
