[BUG | Beta Opt-In 1.03 | SOLVED] Mods Stopped Working

Galactic Civilization 3 Updates and Mods stop working

I was working on my mod, a ship appearence thingy, when GalCiv3 decided to patch, no biggy I thought, but when I get in game all my custom ship appearences are gone, and the other mod I am using, for more map colours has stopped working too.

Info:

Opted into the beta

Using mods:

PaletteOverhaul - by me.

Map Colours - Standard - by Ave

More Info:

I was just playing with all the mods working, and then it patched, and now they are gone.
I have mods enabled in options.
For safety I restarted, I verified that my mod xml was correct, will try removing my mod from the mods folder and see if it still runs with Ave's, which I know works.
I turned mods off, restarted, turned them back on and restarted again, no luck.

Some help would be really nice, now that I think about it, this should go in support.

lol, I literally just confirmed this on my end. Tried mods on 1.03, wouldn't load anything. Downgraded to 1.02, and they worked fine.

After removing my mod from the mods folder and running it it still doesn't work, my mod is the only one that has been changing, figured just in case I made a mistake in the xml, which I have not.

My custom faction works, but that's the only mod I'm using. Strange. Wonder what caused this?

EDIT: Wait! I just updated. My custom faction is gone. A different custom faction that was made using the in-game editor is still there, however.

Mine is not working either!

Wait! My custom faction isn't working after all. I just updated to the latest opt-in. A different custom faction does work, but mine (in the Mods folder) is gone.

I had to redo my mods and I lost some factions somehow. I had about 55 and now I have 45. Maybe I'll find them later.

Something else weird happened. The entire structure of the My Games\GalCiv3 folder has changed, but it's missing a few things. It's not consistent. There's now a Factions folder next to the Mods folder, and the game DOES accept things in this folder, but it doesn't accept whole mods, particularly custom factions that were created through the Mods folder. It's as though it's been changed to resemble what 1.1 is looking for, but the implementation is incomplete, so the game is now unable to read certain mods at all.

Also confirming that opting out of 1.03 made my mods/factions all work again.

Yep the factions I lost were the Mass Effects factions that went to mods, and the Dr Whomiverse mod. I tried to reinstall and no luck.

This did seem like a weird patch. I gathered from the stream today that both Brad and Paul are working on the game and it sounded like they may each be doing things without telling each other.

Very odd that the faction mods no longer work. I had some difficulty getting my own to work again. I had to edit the steam game files and copy and paste to the mod file then go back and restore the steam files

I had to tweak/rebuild most of my mods using the 'original' files, but all of them worked okay for me, including my custom race mod (standalone mod, not a .faction file)

I saw something in the patch notes about them changing the folder structure, but I didn't see any actual change to 'my documents\my games\galciv3'

My factions seem to be working okay as well (grabbed a list from someone's post a while back)

Having said that, I just tried to start a new game with my custom race mod, and it's no longer listed.  (and when I hover over quick start which would have that race selected, the game crashes to desktop).  But I was playing from a saved game that I started with that mod/race with 1.03, so i wonder if they snuck in another update.

OK I drop my factiondefs back in the main game folder and it work!! so I`m guessing that the mod folder is not being seen by the game again !! when the dev`s added to custom races they must have change this or forgot to re add it back in !

Indeed, there WAS an update this evening. It was a hotfix that included a fix for the Planetary Resistance/Defense techs (which do work now). Unfortunately, this is what happens when you skip QA. I think some unfinished 1.1 stuff got sent out along with the hotfix.

There is a problem concerning mods and multiplayer:

In 1.02 I couldn't play custom factions in MP if they contain own graphic set so far I have ANY mod in the mod folder. After deleting mods all worked fine.

Probably they try to catch up the problem with the opt-in...I'm sure they'll bring out a working 1.03 later.

The game now looks for *.gc3wsdata files instead of loose files.... Steam Workshop strikes again...
