Cheating AI?

I think i caught the AI teleporting it's units

I think I just caught an AI builder ship teleporting to it's destination.

Their Builder moves at a slow 2 spaces per turn, while mine moves at 6 per turn thanks to Relics and Faction Trait. Moving alongside their builder unit, my own was "racing" theirs to a destination, and at the time of the incident our builders were adjacent. Abruptly, on the next turn, their builder disappeared and a space station appeared 12 tiles ahead.

Anyone else noticed suspicious activity? Or can anyone come up with an explanation? I'd say they might have just had a builder I couldn't see, but then what happened to the other builder I was adjacent to? The space station appeared in a spot within my territory but they would have had to move through my territory to reach it, so why wasn't I warned with a message?

A second space station has just appeared within my territory without trace of a Builder coming before it.

Sometimes a second constructor will already be at the location, out of sight from what you can see, and it looks like a starbase just appears. (I had this happen the other day with a colony ship that got to a planet before me and that civ's other colony ship were racing to it.)

What level are you playing? On the higher levels the AI gets many cheats of various kinds.

On normal they are supposed to be playing by the rules. I have not seen anything suspicious that can't be explained by my suspicious nature. :)

End of Franco's quote

Normal. I thought the first space station might have just been one I didn't see, but it doesn't explain why the one I COULD see disappeared. Their builders only move at a slovenly 2 moves per turn, as well.

Its entirely possible that the missing station is a rendering glitch. While most of these have been stamped out it may be that the constructor or the star base was there the entire time but was not rendering. Its a slim chance but might explain it.

Its good to see people coming to the forums with questions. Keep coming!
