Maybe my settings are wrong?  I just left everything the way it started and played 3 normal large games as terrans.

Most stars have no usable planets...?  My first game I never found one Frozen, Barren, or Aquatic planet.

There is almost nothing to survey.  And finding +10 treasury when I start with 5,000 seems trivial.  I think you should be able to Survey dead planets.  Make their massive presence on the map somewhat useful.

check the settings, i forget the games defaults.  Also what version are you playing (planet bug in 1.02).  Do you know about the console commands?

To check out what galaxy options you like, start a game hit ~ fow  (lifts the fog of war) . then go back and adjust things up/down to your liking.  Remember map creation has a random element so you don't get the same number of things each time

Version 1.01.  But Steam controls that for me I think.
