So I've been unable to host multiplayer match or even play on single player on my own due to the fact that every time I start the game, after sitting at the "Building map" screen for a few seconds, the game closes to the desktop with no error. I have been able to join other games just fine however. I've tried adjusting just about every possible setting to see if it was that, but that was a fruitless effort. From the 1/10th of a game I was able to play, I am in love with it... Please help me finish a game!
Clear out any ship designs you might have in %user%\My Docs\My Games\GalCiv3\designs.
When in MP don't use the ship designer as turns transition otherwise the game will likely crash and leave a broken ship design in your %user%\My Docs\My Games\GalCiv3\designs that will cause _all_ games to crash when you try to start them.
I'm having a similar issue myself.
When I start a new game of any sort, the game seems to hang on the "Building Map..." screen.
I don't have custom anything and I just uninstalled/reinstalled the game.
I have the same problem just bought the game and cannot play at all.
Never had to enter any codes so I am wondering about that.
but usually steam takes care of that??
