- I would love to see a change to the UI where I can get a flood of details if i hover over something long enough - IE if I have a star with 3 planets on it, if i hover over the star I get some general info about all 3 planets.

On a side note the research from relics is extremely broken. With 5 relics (not even hard to obtain) I can have colonies producing 80+ research per turn with only 1-2 labs.

You can set the relics to rare and even omit them if you wish. If you hover over the individual planets it gives you the info I guess that you want. Maybe it would be easier if the star gave the info, I have never thought about it.

Stars use to give info in gal civ 2, the reason they removed it is because they wanted to stop players basically cheating when exploring by just seeing the star and seeing how many planets was in the system without having to actually look around the star.
