Menu has no background

Just got the game today and started it up, but the menus don't display properly. There is no background to them so they are essentially unusable. Here is a screenshot:

So far I've tried redownloading the game from Steam twice (deleting user directories and what not), running it windowed (had to change it to that via ini), and turning the Gel UI thing on and off. Drivers are of course up to date.

Retuobak,

Sorry you are having problems with GalCiv3.

Try deleting your: ../Galactic Civilizations III/screens/atlas/atlas.dxatlas file and restart the game.

Please let me know if that resolves your issue.

Sadly, no, the problem persists :(

Next, please follow these in order, and let me know what worked (if any)

Prior to deleting the atlas file, turn off Steam Cloud saving here:

http://sd.stardock.com/brad.ather/Jingimages/2015-05-19_1502.png

Delete the atlas file, then try to run the game.

If that fails, rename the My Games\GalCiv3 folder to GalCiv3Old, try to run the game again.

If it works, please run the tool again and send us both zips here:

Thanks for you help on this...

Neither worked sadly :/

Ok, keeping Steam Cloud off, nuke the game:

Let me know if anything is still here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III

If so, zip that up, then delete that folder.

Make sure there is no MyGames\Galciv3 folder, only the GalCiv3Old you renamed.

Reinstall the game and try again.

If that fails, I want you too look at this page as it has other things that would be rudundant here (video drivers for example):

https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/496/161/general-galactic-civilizations-iii-troubleshooting

If it still fails, we will need the tool run; use the link to submit it please.

I'm afraid none of those things have worked for me :/. Valve really can't be happy with all the traffic from me redownloading today :P

Do you need me to run the tool again, or was the result I sent in earlier good enough? And do you need the rar file with the stuff left over after deleting the game's local content?

If you were willing, I would like you to create a new administrator Windows profile on your PC and try to run the game again (you wont need to reinstall):

Example: http://screencast.com/t/7qj4CXcC3Lz

Again, make sure it's and admin account.

Let me know after please.

That...actually worked. Is there any way I can get this fixed in my regular user account or will I just always have to switch to play?

We are making a change in 1.02 so you won't need to run under another account to fix this.

We released patch 1.02 as an opt-in patch to resolve this (and other issues). Please try it out and let me know if you still have the missing screens.

Sorry for the late response, I have tried 1.02 (and 1.03), and I'm still experiencing the exact same issue sadly. :/

Is it still true that main menu works for you when you play as an admin account, but not when you play as a normal account?

Yes we did make a change to resolve this. Please update to 1.1 and see if that resolves your issue (https://forums.galciv3.com/467453/page/3/#3567092)

Please let us know if this resolves it or not. Thank you, and sory you are having an issue with GC3.

My version is updated to 1.1, and the problem persists. I experience it with my main account (which, I should note, is an admin account), but not with the secondary account I created at your suggestion (which is also an admin account).
