Ideology Question

Can you mix and match ideology's (by that I mean can you spread your ideology points across benevolence, pragmatic and malevolence)?

Is it a good idea or should you stick with one?

Yes you can but as time goes on they get more and more expensive.Early on I mix and match to get what I can out of it mainly the free colony ship and the free 3 constructors and then then the spare nearby planet if I haven't got a lot of worlds.I haven't done much more as I've been playing 1 race and the smaller maps to practice and I normally crush my opposition well before getting higher up but others may have the answer?

You can pick some strong "first picks", like free ships or special buildings, but it's better to stick to one ideology, because it will become hard for you to get some strong bonuses from middle or end of chains, and it will negatively affect your relationship with other races.

I actually think you shouldn't be able to, but yes you can.

I think you should be able to mix with pragmatic, but never benevolent and malevolent.

At any rate, I always go Pragmatic for the constructor bonuses, and go deep enough in malevolent for the homeworld production boost. And of course I get both preparedness centers and intimidation centers to develop these chains long term.

benevolent has some big perks too. For example, if you pick the 3rd colonising trait, it can fuel a mass galactic expansion. just load your colony ships up with 0.5 pop (basically 1 per turn) and when they arrive your new world starts with 5.5! magic!
