Not all weapons being used

Watching my battles on the battle viewer (which seems very poorly done) it doesn't always seem my ships fire all the missiles. I make big ships packed to the gills with weapons, but it looks like they will sometimes shoot 2-3 missiles then other times they will fire 8. Has anyone else noticed this?

 

Also, why would my capital ships with long range missiles charge full speed into oncoming ships only to have to do a bunch of spins later? Just chill for a second and blast away. I thought fleet warfare was a big deal to them for this game. I hope they have better developed battles in an expansion. I'm imagining the space battle of endor on SW VI, fighters in the front capital ships (being still) in the back

i have noticed the missle thing, thought in my case it fired 1 when it had 8 against a tiny sized pirate hull, so i think it only needed 1 of the 8 to deal enough damage. this is just an assumption though xD

 

though as for ship movement... yeah i agree having all ships charge to center all the time every fight makes little sense. you think they would try to hover at optimal range to reduce damage taken. and support ships would stay further back rather than jumping into the ring of interceptors...

There has been a lot of discussion about how the Viewer presents battles. On one hand most want to see their ships 'do something' and on the other is the logic that Capitals with Ranged should stand off and fire their compliment as fast as they can till engaging at point blank. 

 

I believe that for now they went with having your ships move into range and then 'turning as needed'. If you watch enough battles  you will see they pass each other and get out of range then turn and fire again. 

 

There is a lot they can do with the viewer and I think we will see optimizations and camera improvements  in the next several post release updates.

A lot of refinement is still needed for this game, some factions still don't work properly, they have a dozen or so planets right next to their borders perfect for colonization and they don't touch them. In the game I just finished the Terrans were stuck at 36 points for like the whole game because they only colonized like 4 planets when they had like 12 planets close by they even had a 4 planet system which they just colonized one of and ignored the other three.

Not sure if this is what is happening because I'm not seeing your battles, but there is a little bit of a weird behavior when you do lethal damage to another ship. All of your weapons of a certain type (i.e. missles) fire at the same time, and have to fire at the same target, but your ship will only fire enough to kill an enemy ship. 

Example: You have a ship with 6 missile launchers, each of which deal 10 damage. You are in battle against two ships, each of which have 40 HP and no point defense. Your ship will launch 4 missiles at one of the ships, wait for the missiles to reload, then fire 4 at the other.

I am guessing this is an adjustment they made so there isn't a bunch of extra beams, missiles, and bullets flying around aren't actually accomplishing anything.

I am finding escorts do not fire at stations.
