Save games are being auto deleted if the filename starts with a number 3

Save games are seemingly being auto deleted if the filename starts with a number 3 (not tested higher numbers). Save filenames beginning with the numbers 1 and 2 are not being deleted.
I did a test with saves of sequential game turns:
2a
2b
3
2c
After exit and reload just the 3 was deleted
The deletion seems to take place when the game is restarted rather than when it exits.
