Ship Design Loss

So I spent a good 25 minutes making a second ship design, but as I was naming it, I noticed it had a beam weapon I had meant to remove, so I hit cancel.  Instead of bringing me back to the ship, it brought me back to the main ship designer screen.  I checked to see if the ship had saved, and it had, but it used the model of the first ship I had made.  I was pretty upset, but I decided to just delete the design and make it again, as close as I could.  I finished and saved it, and then checked to see if it had worked.  It didn't, it was still a copy of my first ship, with the parts from my second ship.  I reloaded the game, and that seemed to fix the problem (I made another ship, just a hull, and it seemed to work).  I wasted a lot of time though, making both versions of this ship, for nothing.  I can get over it, but I want to know that it won't happen again.  Does anyone know what caused this?

If you are missing a design save your game (don't reload since designs cannot at this time be hot loaded into a game) then check in My Documents/My Games/GalCiv3/Designs to see if you see your design there.

Also, are you clicking use as template? This creates a new hull design  but does not create a ship.

I'm clicking on new design.  I spend a while making the ship, and then when I hit save, it just looks like the first ship I designed.  If I do it fast, and just make a ship with a hull it works, but otherwise it just copies thew first ship.

I tried a few times, all of them failed.  So I deleted all my user made ships and tried again, and it still bases it off the first design I made, even with it having been deleted.  What is going on!?

I'm going to ask again. Are you checking use as template? This strips all components off your ship. Otherwise, it might be worth recording a video or taking pictures.

No I don't click the template button, and even if I did, the weapon/engine parts I chose are all still there when I'm done, but the ship looks like my original ship, sorry if i was being unclear.  I do Design > New Design > Make my ship > Save > Save.  If you still don't know, then I'll try some pictures.

-Thank you for your help so far though, by the way :)

Can you send me your save and a couple pictures.

The problem is that the "cancel" button scraps your ship with no confirmation message. It is not an "undo" button as one might guess. I bugged them about this in beta, but they never changed it. I have lost a number of ships to this as well. If you want to remove a single part, double click it in the part list at the bottom of the screen.
