Language localization?

Hi there!

I would like to know, if the game is going to be english only or if they will have other languages included as well. After all, the game is sold world wide...

If there is no localization at this point, my next question is: do you have any plans on adding it in the future? If so, I would suggest asking the community for help here.

For example, I live in Germany and would be glad to help with translating to German as well as Russian.

So please, tell me what the situation is and whether I (and other like-minded players) can help.

I'd be surprised if they didn't at some point from the folder structure and data structure they have clearly designed to allow multiple languages.

Well, the game was announced to get localization...I'd be astounded should they not bring this feature for release.

Hm, I would also like to see this feature on thursday, but I'm afraid it won't be in as nobody mentioned it in the past months (or did I miss that?)

Actually I wouldn't even consider this a "feature" but a natural part of a quality game...

I've not seen anything on what languages will be supported, but the data structure makes it easy to add new languages at any time. Looks like potentially modders could add languages to, though I haven't tested that. It's a simple matter of translating the text which is all kept in xml files in text\english then adding say a text\German directory for example and dropping translated files in there.

But as I say I've seem nothing yet on what other languages they intend to support.

They mentioned French, German and Russian, but this will be after release.

Yes on the steam page it says English* under supported languages, given the last minute tweaks to the large amount of text in the game it makes sense to localize post release. Shouldn't take all that long though.

French, German and Russian make sense.

I read about Russian in the stream chat and i was told German is coming too.

ps: I created a German fanpage: http://galciv3.bl4cksh33p.de ;)

Surprised they're not also doing Spanish and Portuguese. Big market in Latin America? Plus all the Spanish speakers in the US.

I wonder what market there would be in China for this game?

Just because they aren't currently looking at Spanish and Portuguese doesn't mean they won't get to these eventually, both are after all widely spoken.

Well, that sounds nice then. Sems like we just have to wait and see how things turn out after release.

Still my suggestion remains: the community could help with translation.

@Bl4ckSh33p: Schöne Seite :-)

If it works the way it looks like it works any translator in the community could do a translation mod I assume the sub-folder would have to have the right name to match the local settings on the machine to find which files to use might be good to test that.

Spanish I think would be a very good idea as it is a very widely used language.
