This is from a post on the steam forums below in blue by Cathan.
"This is just something I've noticed. I've been playing an extremely long game with an Insane map with only Conquest as the victory goal with my own custom faction.
However, if you actually manage to research all technologies in the game, the game still thinks you have technologies to research and won't let you continue the turn unless you pick a research subject... even though there is none to be selected.
This kinda ruins the game if you plan to do a long conquest game like I was doing. Does anyone know anyway of avoiding this or bypassing the "You must select research once finished" requirement?"
This sounds rather game breaking for the ones who likes a long drawn out or manipulation style game.
One thing I've been meaning to bring up anyways is after you have researched everything there is really not much more to do except scrap all of your research buildings and switch to influence, diplomacy, money, or production.
I don't believe we should just stop at the 80's brick cell phone and call it quits at technological advancement.
One of the unique things That Master of Orion 2 did to make games virtually endless was after you have researched a tree you can continue research to miniaturize your ship parts.
Below are not the same names in Moo2 but it should hopefully convey what I'm getting at.
Advanced Weapon Miniaturization I II III IV V VI and so on,,
Advanced Drive Miniaturization I II III IV V VI and so on,,
Advanced Hull Miniaturization I II III IV V VI and so on,,
I know this isn't anything that can be put in before release but I do hope I don't hit a research wall that wont let me advance in my turns.
I also hope something like advanced research could be implemented in the future.
