Importing races

from GalCiv3 Forums

The contest for custom races has released downloadable files to add them to your game. I went ahead and downloaded them I just have no idea where i should be placing them in the games files to ensure that the show up. 

Can anyone tell me how to import these new races to the game?

I put the .faction files in c:\Users\ForesterSOF\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Factions\

I tried to put the others in the MOD folder but no go.

Kinda working out this myself. Some of the Faction creators went above and beyond and made their own ship files and such so you need to match the folder structure that the base game files are using. Read the text file in the mod folder. I'm interested in this myself so I will try and create a folder that includes all the contest winner files.

Ok check that link I sent you. They appear to have imported. Drop the contents of the mod folder into the mod folder and the contents of the faction folder into the factions folder. Finally unzip the design folder into the design folder. If you run into problems let me know. I'm going to go through each of the factions and see if they load.
