Diplomancy - Trading Lockout - Need to know the lockout time

I find myself writing down the turn number when I last traded with a faction. This information should be available somewhere on the UI.

It doesnt seem to be a constant - might change depending on relationship? I would expect an ally to always be available to talk to me.

Agreed! Put it in the mouseover, so that instead of saying "You must wait longer," it says, "You must wait x turns!"
