No option to opt-in to beta - solved!

Hi,

I have owned Gal Civ III for a while now, but only just now decided to try the beta, and ran into a problem. I simply do not have the option to opt-in to one when I right click Gal Civ III in steam library, go to properties, beta tab and look for the option.

Picture below:

Any help would be appreciated.

Note that I can opt-in for betas for other games (for example I can see that Age of Wonders III has open_beta - Latest Awsomeness opt in). It is just Gal Civ III refuses to give me the betas option.

I have tried reinstalling Gal Civ III.

I have tried uninstalling Gal Civ III and reinstalling Steam and reinstalling Gal Civ III again.

Without the opt-in Gal Civ III is at version 0.82

Is there anything else I can try? Or is 0.82 is what the game is with 5.2 patch?

Thanks in advance!

The game is currently in Beta (not opt-in), It is Beta 5 patch 2 or known as (0.82.4.0).

Stardock will release an opt-in beta a few days to a week prior to the beta going live for those that want to opt-in prior.  The reason for this is, should their be an obvious issue with the opt-in version they can quickly adjust it for when the beta patch goes live.

The Game is expected to be released on May 14, 2015 according to a Frogboy post at the end of last week/weekend. (non-beta)

Like always dates are subject to change based on business needs but, something to :) about.

They usually do an opt in on Thursday or Friday.

The opt-in won't show if it's not available. As the others have said, the 5.2 patch is the latest.

You will always have the latest version because of Steam updating.  If you are interested in the early opt in for each patch to the Beta, keep an eye on these forums.  There will be notice that an opt in is availible.  Otherwise, if you wait less than a week, the opt-in will become "official" and distribute to all owners of the game.  Then you will have the same version as us eager beavers.

Welcome to the Beta!

Right, thanks guys :)

Feel a little foolish now, I was under impression that without opt in the game was at beta 1 state or something similar, thank you for clearning it up!

Nothing to feel foolish about. Many have asked about how Stardock works with the Beta opt-in. Asking about it is better than feeling lost or uncertain.

The opt-ins are just for people who want to try the patch updates a bit earlier than everyone else. Usually (not always) the opt-in patches will go public a week after the opt-in and is included as a normal update that everyone gets.

So you can only opt in on Thursday and Fridays. It would be nice if they included that information on the FAQ, because I spent about an hour looking for this information.

Not exactly. You can opt-in whenever there is an opt-in available, which although typically is near the end of the week, it can be enabled at any time.

You can check the news section, Facebook or Twitter for when we launch patches. The instructions are also listed in the changelogs when opt-ins are available. :)
