Idea stolen from Distant Worlds...

I would like to see Morale more of an issue but not so much that it makes playing the game unfun. One idea I really liked from Distant Worlds was 'Regional Capitals'.

 

Your Capital will extend its influence out so many hexes and this can and will mitigate Morale. As you climb upwards in types of Government you get access to these Regional Capitals. They simply extend the mitigating influence from that planet like your primary capital does. Of course you would need to build a building on said planet like you do the 'Missionary' Center.

 

Too late for Gold for this but I think its a great idea for a DLC that can be added later for 'Governments' and make Morale something that should be micro'd as well but not a great deal.

 

Micro is why we like this games, some like lots some like little and me I am somewhere in between.

If we are stealing idea from DW

Private industry handles trades and resource distribution, no building trade routes

There is a market to buy/sell resources IIRC

Pirates ask for protection money. You can also pay them to attack someone. They have several pirate factions in a game, not just all lumped together.

You can colonize satellites (moons) of planets

Those are just off the top of my head.

Yea, I know. DW is also pausable real time and has nothing like the graphix we do here. There are some really great ideas on that game, however the regional captial idea I felt could be worked into a GC III tech tree via the government line The idea also lends itself to placement both ON the planet tiles and WHICH planet to place it on, further forcing players with more choice which I 'thought might be additional 'fun/micro'. 

 

Its just an idea. Our Trade routes are autonomous once you establish it. 

 

I like the idea of Pirates extorting us for 'protection' money. I always told them to go to hell since if you fund them the balloon up in power and size.

Well the sheer volume of assets in DW make fancy graphics rather impossible. However, I didn't mind it. Plus you could pause and give orders, so the RT aspect isn't much of an issue. I like the regional capital idea. Also Regions/sectors.
