Multiplayer Simultaneous Moves for players

I've been watching the dev streams and maybe I missed it but is there any plans to incorporate a simultaneous moves for Human Players so they can both make their moves at the same time in Multiplayer. Also to make this fair (and less annoying) I think it would have to switch back to turn based between the players if they are at war with any human parties in a conflict. For an example Civilization V has a hybrid turn option in multiplayer settings.

I do apologize if this has already been answered and if so I'd appreciate a link to the thread and/or any updates to when/if we will be seeing anytime soon?

I also have been wondering about a simultaneous turn option, I think it would be good to implement for MP.

it has been answered a few times the answer is no.

if simultanous turns were included it would cause the game to become a twitch game who can click the fastest wins.

as it stands its simultanous planning sequential turns

so while its not your turn you should be able to order your ships to move where you want and order your planets to upgrade how you want but those orders wont be carried out till the end of your next turn

As long as you aren't locked out of performing actions - preparations that is - then it should be fine.

The hybrid mode for civ v might be able to work, though in CivV, it's still simultaneous moves for everyone not in that war between players. That leads to other issues.

Currently you can plan anything but ship movements during another players turn. Research, building, govern, etc. Ship movements have to occur on your actual turn though. The above comment about twitch play is correct. I am a fan of not having twitch in. I'm far to focused on the many other outlets of this game to even try to beat someone else to the punch on ship movements.

As long as I can do things while it is the other persons turn, I am fine. Total War MP sucks because I can't do ANYTHING but look around while waiting. Why can't I queue up builds, set my family members to positions or give them assignments? Why can't I do my building and recruitment while I wait? Drives me nuts.

Thats a better question to put on their forums ;) But I'm there with ya. In Shogun you could at least do a couple of things, Rome saw a reduction and in Attila, you just wait. Still great games though.

Could it not work like Frozen Synapse? The turn won't commence until all players have clicked the 'turn' button? This would be as close as it is to the singleplayer option and encourages both active and passive multiplayer games. There could be a timeout option where if a player logs out or is inactive after a while, they will automatically take their turn. It could make for interesting multiplayer gaming, so that you could have a game on the go throughout a period of months.

Imagine playing a multiplayer game with a few friends or some strangers. In the evening you'd all play actively - logged on at the same time, weighing your options, and everyone commiting their turns when ready. The turns play out, and progress is made. You then have to go to work the next day, so you log off, and go to work the following day, whilst the other players do the same. I you can then come back after work / going out etc and you pick up your turn where you left off. If you remain away for longer than a day, the turn will eventually take place. It could the sense of an actual galaxy existing online which you can choose to participate in or not.

anyway, my two cents.

As it states in my original post that if they would include it, it would have to be similar to civ 5's hybrid turn mode so then players make their move then the AI. If 2 players were to go to war then it would have to revert back to turn based between the 2 players. This would really speed up multiplayer games so instead of 3 players taking 3 minutes each on their turn, they could all have their turn done around the same time and save 6 minutes of waiting for their next turn so instead of a game lasting weeks or months it could be played out in days. But again if war were to be declared between 2 human players and if 4 players are playing then the 2 players would each have their turn and the 2 other players would still be able to play out their turn at the same time but I (and many others) would be happy even if all players went turn based if war was declared between 2 players as it will still drastically speed up games. This would have to be an option in the server settings when creating a game so that the game could be played out in normal mode or hybrid mode for those who would rather play full turn based games.
