Gal Civ Shipyard window with mini-map improvement

Hi all, it's great to be involved in the Gal Civ 5.1 Beta. I have a gameplay improvement that I believe that would vastly improve things in the shipyard view. As it stands, when clicking on the idle shipyard button, the shipyard window opens up and I build ships according to the position that shipyard is in the galaxy map not just upon the name of the shipyard so I am forced to close the window, zoom out on the map centered on the shipyard and then manage the shipyard with a build queue by opening it again and finally closing it again for a minimum of 4 clicks without choosing ships (and a middle mouse wheel roll of course) but with my idea shown in the picture below will leave it at 2 clicks only plus it looks cool. The idea is to show the galaxy map centered and with the zoomed recital shown to give the shipyards position on the galactic map, sweet.

What do you think?

I can definitely relate to this--my process is identical when handling idle shipyards, so it would indeed be very helpful to know exactly where a shipyard is located. A minimap could probably be nestled quite nicely on the right side of the screen--either inbetween the build queue and the "now building" element, or it can stay up in the top right and the "now building" element could be moved down to accommodate.

I agree, I do the same thing.

Is there anyone from Stardock willing to comment on this post as a possible future addition to improve our gaming experience? Loving Beta 6 by the way too.

THIS.

It would also be nice to have a mini-map view when you are abruptly whisked off to a planet somewhere within your vast empire in order to build improvements ("idle colony")

Agreed, it all just makes too much sense to me to include the mini-map in both locations and reduce pointless clicks while getting back to the serious business of enjoying Gal Civ 3.
