possible bug 8.0 the magic trade route

ok so im playing an immense map and before i started the game i went into mapsize xml and changed the range bonus to -0.20 (i really dont get why they want your starting ships to have unlimited range)

so im about 50 turns in and havent made contact with anyone yet and i notice one of my planets has a trade route line coming off of it.

anyway i look under the govern tab and sure enough it shows a trade route

 

now heres the thing first off it shows that its a foreign trade route (which kind of makes sense since i havent even built a freighter yet) but it shows the origin as zilpha (one of my planets) its using one of my trade routes (so that bug from beta 4 still exists) but heres the kicker

there are no planets anywhere close to the area that the trade route appears to be going, to compare my colony ships have 7 environmental support modules to give them 41 tiles of movement (i dont think its even possible for the AI to have a Freighter that could reach far enough to get to this planet)

Since you haven't completed the exploration of your Galaxy, could it be there two stars with the name "zilpha"? Maybe the star name generator is malfunctioning.

in this case it is showing that i have a foreign trade route that originates at one of my planets zilpha and ends at iridia while its possible for there to be a second planet named zilpha im sure thats not the case here im just going to load an autosave and see if i can catch the ship in action because i dont think it should be able to trade with me

So Zilpha is your planet?  It sounds like the Iridians sent a trade ship to Zilpha.  Totally normal.  Although I think the screen should show Iridia as the origin and Zilpha as the destination.

thats one part of what i was trying to point out

 

 

now when i loaded the Previous Auto Save i found the ship they sent out

it had 6X environmental support providing 6.6 range each by my math thats 39.6 range

they had no range modifier techs that i could tell from trying to trade with them

but they did have adventursome for 15% and 1x trade resource for 5% so an additional 20% total 

bringing up the range of that freighter to 47.52 im not sure what the initial range was but it shouldnt be very big the problem is that ship was reporting a range of 89 hexes where are the other 40 hexes coming from 

considering my previous math of 39.6 hexes it looks like that ship is getting a free 100% bonus to ship range

Ah, ok, I understand now.  I haven't looked into modding at all yet, though, so I can't address your point about the range.

yeah i looked at the aidefs and found bonus's for masscap, maintenence cost, battledmg vs human player. etc etc but no modifier for ship range by difficulty

the range modifier depends on mapsize, so maybe in some xml that has to do with mapsettings?

Yeah i reduce the range modifier from crazy stupid high numbers to -0.2 at the start of my games
