Noob question: has anything changed in B5 regarding the mining resources? They have no tooltip indicating what they are for and GC3 is my first foray into the GC universe.
Most of the support modules currently require them. You just need to go far enough down the tech tree to find them. And supposively more uses later on as well.
I really hope there are more to come, with a greater variety of effects. The current ones are nice, but aren't numerous enough nor distinct enough.
I've just realised that all I ever post is criticism, so I would like to point out that I am enjoying the game. Beta 5 has been a huge improvement. I would just love for this new iteration of Galciv to be the best, and the new flagship of the Sci-Fi 4X genre.
criticism is fine... we are pointing the bugs and other things in game that should be fixed and changed

I find that different resources allow different support ships. So missile support takes one, Tactical support takes another, and so on.
Works pretty good as is; wouldn't mind more uses but I am finding I run out of some of the resources very fast.
I really wish they would add more ressources and maybe an augment function to your tecs. a basic example would be: missile launcher (augment durantium -> a little bit more damage or something like that). of course, more creative effects would be better, this was just a basic example. but it would really increase the use (and need to mine) of the ressources. oh, and of course more powerful augments should need more ressources than the basic ones, maybe even more than one type. additionally, to get these augments, a bunch of new tecs could be added, eg. a duranium augments tree etc, and the augments that need more than one ressource would of course need both trees to that point. just an idea.
